Yeah, but its a bit less black/white. Most people have choice of repairer, and some assesors will knock back cheaper jobs if they think the quote is missing a few things etc. Most (good) shops will do a proper quote, and bring the cost down via parts etc.

Insurance companies dont give much time for colour matching either...quite a pain...every shop has different rates aswell...


But, none of that has anything to do with this car.


Its not the shops duty to help the owner maintain there car, if the owner is too lasy to wax and polish there car, thats there own fault.

When a colour is matched, they use the code to find the formula. They then match the colour to the car buy varying the colour with tinters. In this case, where the car is faded, they would have polished up one patch to get the colour as close as possible.

There is no way a shop will then add a matting agent to the clear, or single layer to match the chalky fade...and it makes no sense to do so.

What we see here is a freshly painted bar, on a car that hasn't been looked after. If the owner doesn't want the bar to stand out, they should have paid for a buff-polish or done it them selves...
