What brands were available? I’d be interesting to know if Mazda is trading in fleets more now or not. |

No Fords at all.
The only marques I know for sure are Audi, BMW, Holden, Lexus, Nissan & Toyota as they were the ones we discussed. The focus of the discussion was 5 seats, large and mid to high performance. There are most certainly others but they were not mentioned. |

(This is aimed at topic, regarding sales of Ecoboost)
The problem is that Ford could easily boost Ecoboost sales but at the cost of I-6 sales, something that's obviously undesirable. So the only choice is "slow burn" and let the market discover it without killing the Falcon I-6 in the process... |

If you are talking hire cars as in car and driver my partner is getting quotes for 2 right now she is looking at 2 G6Es we both drove them and were very impressed I used to think that too till I drove one they are quick and well behaved on the road, they actually drive better than the 6

Is there an increased insurance price over the I6, being turbo?

I think it's the stigma of a "Big car with a small engine", people are still haunted with the memories of a 4 cylinder Commodore. I personally wouldn't buy or even consider one, have no interest in owning one at all.(just MY opinion) |

Good point, probably why they don’t carry a turbo badge. as turbo has the reputation to guzzle

"Reputation to guzzle"...?
Turbos have always been advertised...both factory and especially aftermarket...as being for "increasing fuel efficiency and at the same time power", the "perfect modification". Most cars that are turbos...unless specifically a performance model...don't even mention the turbo apart from saying "fitted with a powerful and fuel efficient turbocharged engine" or words like that. |

Silly question…but what’s the life expectancy of the turbo itself?
200000km? 300000km or more? |

Yesterday, three of them (2 boats, one float). Sold my XC Ute recently which will have a 351 put in and tow another Falcon to the track.

different motor but i replaced a turbo on a cummins m11 that has done 14,500hrs of full revs constant boost, if you roughly work 1 hour as an average of 60km/h that almost 900,000km, so you can get a pretty good run out of them |

that`s pretty good , would you put car turbo in the same boat as a truck one though? , i know my young brother( rev head) has done a couple of turbo`s on performance cars(supra`s) over the years, would not have got near 160,000 k`s, mind you they where caned within an inch of their lives and probably a little over boosted.

All depends on what turbo they are using. Mazda CX7 turbos need replacing at about 60-100k kms because they are junk. But some other cars have no issues at all for the life of the engine.

Most good turbos will last at least 200k without any work, from everything I've seen.
Admittedly, that's mostly Toyota T/Ds. They're very much indestructable though... I'd be interested in about 5 years down the track how many have survived. Anyone know the amount of puff these turbos are pushing in?
