Where were all these potential XR8 buyers back when the XR8 was still on sale?

That's exactly what I think it is too.
Reintroducing the XR8 would be bringing a new model into the fold; which it explicitly states isn't going to happen according to the post.

For me, start with the GS and roll out an unstickered, Ford Badged Version (with XR8 badges in the glove box) and all will be well. And then from there steadily roll the Ford badge back into the product.

Lukeyson
They can roll whatever they like down the line. The FPV bits wont be getting put on the line. Enough stuff goes 'missing' so it'll be getting finished in a more secure area.

I saw an F6 late last week with trade plates and ford production stickers getting taken for a quality test. So FPV units shouldn't be far off.

Let's hope so Jim. Anyone notice on the various news programs that the people who were whinging that the next commodore would be 4 cyl FWD and not their beloved V6 or V8 were either driving a VC or VN. Seems they are interested really in saving the brand too by having their late model cars. LOL

Well it's not a new model but it's still special?
They clearly show the bonnet bulge and no stripe there?
It has to be the return of the XR8 surely! FORD SC GT FORD SC GS FORD NA & TXR6 FORD NA XR8 makes sense to me....Cheaper V8 option on a well known model.

First GT to be completed on the Ford production line since the 70's is my guess. Probably get Moffat or someone like that to sign the car and maybe give it away in a comp or something.

I would like to see the XR8 too, but really its too early for one even if they wanted to. The time to release such a car would be a week or so before the VF goes on sale to try and steal some of Holden's thunder.

if it does come it wont be NA. It would make no sense to pay the costs of importing an NA engine, adapting it and then doing all the testing out here for acceptance in Falcon, when you have the Supercharged version that Prodrive gave you for a song and you already tooled up for it and done all compliance testing. Easier to just let GS die and rebadge it minus the GS stripes and GT wheels. GS is just a tarted up XR8 anyway and goes down the line as an XR8 on the paperwork for the build.

I do really hope the XR8 makes one more appearance before Falcon is gone.

Last 351 GT built was 37 years ago. I'm guessing it has to do with Ford now building GTs in house.

If they pull out a coupe, surely it has to be the best kept secret ever.

I'd say it'd be more reasonable to assume a 'Falcon GT'.

A value-adding skunkworks within Ford Australia to build limited quantities of a coupe actually makes sense as Falcon needs high profit models to justify low production of the base car.

But its not going to happen, its a Falcon GT.

I question this line of marketing though. I would of thought they would downplay the FPVs are now built in house. Why advertise that the halo GT is now built along white fleet LPG XTs. Way to dent the FPV premium.

There is not much excitement being built by the Facebook post....as everyone knows it is a GT....probably the same as the one they built across the road. It would be nice if it had some other features to mark the occasion though.

It has to be the new Falcon GT 351.
(but in this case, 351rwkw as opposed to cubic inches!)

Surely there would have to be something different? Otherwise why constantly ask people to guess what it will be? All it does is build expectations which leads to disappointment when it is simply the same car.

That is the kind of marketing campaing you would expect from a work experience kid, not a sophisticated marketing department. So Im sure there would have to be something at least at little different with the current FPVs - maybe a special edition?

Nothing has changed really. What was done at FPV is done in another part of Ford. The engine will now be put together at Geelong, wouldn't surprise me if its all hand assembled over there...but some others would know better them me.
