Agreed but neither does the RWHP of a HWP car, i doubt they were there to get a reading....

My stock VE SS ute A6 pRe AFM so 270kw, pulled 220 rwkw when it had 30,000km and that was running E10, although that tank may have been 98. Currently have 233000km and still stock and drives the same.
That SS reading for the cop was very low. |

Hp figures aside its good to see coppers chucking their cars on a dyno for a laugh.
I would love to see the same cars then have a drag race on the same day and see who comes out in front cough turbo cough |

Rigoli's dyno reads true, we tune there and everytime it's come off the dyno, the track showed the same power.
we made 878rwhp yesterday, if you input all the data on a 1/4 mile calculator the car show's it's making around 1170hp @ the motor. a Powerglide gearbox is said to lose around 25-30% in drivetain so the numbers add up. it was great to see the Police there, it was a positive spin compared to what you normally hear. it was quite funny actually, we pulled in, reversed into our reserved spot a couple minutes later the Policeman arrived, a low 8-sec street car and a cop car parked next to each other, most would be quaking in their boots he just had a look, gave a nod and that was it. over the course of the day, the event was attended by well over 1000 people and 100's of cars would have been in the area, 99% of those cars would have been modified legally or illegally in some way, but, noone got harassed at or near the event that we know about. |

a mates stock VE E3 clubby made 250rwhp (186rwkw) and after $7000 worth of tune and exhaust it made 300rwhp thats only only 223rwkw
for something that has a 317kw badge fitted its pretty sad now i'd love to see the cops at track days like speed off the streets so we can race a cop for real....

as I said before both cars were run on the same dyno the XR6T flogged the SS and the comparison between the 2 was valid even if the dyno was reading low for some reason as it would have read equally low on both cars. lets face it a falcon 6 can eat an SS V8 for breakfast , ford have been criticised for not having a main stream V8 ( not an FPV) this shows why , they don't need one. ford should be proud of this effort V8 killing performance and 6Cyl economy

Saw this mentioned on faceache. Loved reading all the comments from people stating how their modified crappers would outrun the police XR6t's and that Falcons can't put their power to the ground because of chassis flex and wheelspin and their weight etc.
Actually, I tell a lie. I didn't love reading that at all. Most WRX owners would destroy their clutches quicker than they can say "I'll text my cousins after I finish this kebab" if they tried getting off the line as quick as a ZF-equipped XR6t. |

i disagree ;)
Firstly you won't get 6cyl economy if you're hosing a VE SS. Secondly if they dropped even a slightly detuned blown 5L in an XR8 shell similar to the GS but Ford badged and different spec, it'd be a perfect accompaniment to the XR6t. It's more money than anything that is stopping them from having more options. Quote:

but most people don't drive at full throttle all the time so you get 6 cyl economy most of the time and it only drinks when you give it the occasional big boot full so it's win win

Exactly, I drive mine around every day, I give it the beans quite regularly, yet the average economy sits around 11l/100km.

fair enough, seems a much improved fuel map over the BF
haha i'm not mate! like i said if you're talking 'smoking an SS' then it'll drink like a fish.. if the SS and XRt are both pacing one another on a freeway at 110, or not competing in the slightest, then yes you'll get your 6cyl economy.

My car last year made 11 more rwkws on Rigoli's dyno than it did on Joe's (CMS) so i'd say it a very true dyno. This year unfortunatley I think the ramp rate was a bit slow and my rears were frying and cost me as much as 30 - 40 rwkws. But yeah it was a cracker day and heaps of people.
Also good to finally catch up with you Paul and have a good chin wag!

I know its like beating a dead horse, but Ford need to make another awesome tv ad like in the BA days with that XR6t, the "can't get enough of this" ad.
I am not a 6 cyl fan, but that ad made me want one... lol But the FG XR6t is a great car !

did you compare how much fuel you each used at full throttle for 400 metres?
like i said many times already, I AGREE that it's far better on fuel than a v8 if you're just trundling around town on cruising on the highway. My point was that if you compare the 'claim' part of the statement as in 'v8 killer' then when you're both going full tilt the economy is going to be nothing to write home about. i hope it can be understood now.

My standard 08 made 17rwkws more (with allot better fuel economy) then a mates 2012 SS, both manuals.
I would say this would probably be the norm. Good to see the police getting involved too, if it was in Vic they would be out the front with the EPA.

Would the stock 10% overboost feature kick in on the dyno ?
And is this overboost feature counted in the 270kw rated engine ? If so this could also be added in to account for the difference.
