Actually, my Tickford edition AU II Ghia had a 3.45 LSD from factory, and all T series had a LSD too.

I've also heard that a number of XR's also had it too.

It was an option on the XR and the T series had LSD AFAIK.

I'd say it's a cost thing, IRS is more comfortable and handles better. Only advantage that live axle has is weight saving, but I doubt that would have been Ford's intention when deciding

I remember seeing a AUII Futura wagon with a V8 badge on its front guard about a year ago.

Pretty rare car I would think. I wonder whether that would have had an LSD? An LSD was mandatory on a V8 without traction control and I don't think Futura wagons got traction control until the BF.

Not sure if it's legit, but here's what looks to be an AU2 Forte V8.

http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/bendi...ual/1021888095

Even if that's not, I have definitely seen low series V8's, they're just hard to find.

I wish the WA Transport Dept. had ordered Skip with a 5.0L V8... that would save me the future hassle!

One question I have for you though. Why do you want another 8? For racing? Planning on retiring the LTD from drag duties..?

While I'm throwing ideas out. What about a forte/futura front end conversion on an XR8 200/220? Therefore giving you the 'proper' lights.
Replace the rear bar with a standard unit and remove side skirts and nobody could tell..!!
Now youre just being silly.

Just buy a t-series

Yes I had my AU XR8 on the hoist the other day and saw that it has a 3:45 LSD happy about that.

Probably won't happen, but crikey it would be a fun car. Damn these forums cost you money!

Edit: Besides, James would not want my LTD any more if it was just a stocky! That way I would be comfortable the 'D' would remain mine forever!
I've just stumbled across this thread by accident, its interesting for a couple of reasons, firstly, yesterday at Streetbuilt Chad was in an AU Forte V8 doing some tuning, didn't get the full specs or have time to look over it but was told its a 5.0 with AFR185s and going by the idle a nice choice of cam (sounded great) and secondly, I'd still want the D Stu even if it was stock, I'd just put my engine/gearbox in it and put the GT on blocks for a few years while I shocked the hell out of anyone that pulled up next to the LWB wanting a bit of fun

So good try in thinking that'll put me off, sorry didn't work still want it

+1 for the forte front on an xr8, heaps of series II xr8s without the bodykit. I would love to do it to a 220, have a real sleeper.
