I'd REALLY love the F-series and more of the American line-up to come to Aus, that's the least they could do to ease my pain for killing the Falcon.
Would also be keen to see a diesel V8 powered Raptor! Big, loud, truck-like V8 diesel... mmmmmmhmmm! Another trade-off is that if there were new F-series being sold, prices of the 'old' 7.3 Diesel F250's would drop dramatically, and that's a truck I would LOVE to have, I don't care how hard it is to park, that engine and the sheer amazing size is all worth it! Still waiting to hear an engine that sounds better than the 7.3! |

Toyota did look at the Tundra as a replacement for the Landcruiser ute when it stops soon. I have been told that the Tundra option is no longer on the table. Toyota will release the new Hilux and then a model that is similar but larger. This vehicle will replace the Landcruiser and it is not the Tundra.

An F truck and Ranger are really not that far apart, for our market anyway.

Since we have no more FPV utes anymore perhaps some of the 'worked' F trucks we see in the states could be a good option. I for one really hope Toyota don't bring the Tundra here because I would have no choice but to buy one.

The F-Series would take sales away from the Ranger the same way the Mazda 3/ Focus / Corolla takes sales away from the Falcon.
With the Ranger not being made here, I could care less if another Ford product takes sales from it.

Yeah thats what I mean guys, you would never have both the Ranger and the F truck in the same market in full.
But its clear the Ranger is never going to get a "performance" model, the Wildtrak is not really one its more cosmetic although its a great overall package. Having the Raptor here hurts no one..I cant see any negatives unless it completely bombs. But as you mentioned we have had our V8 ute taken away and now the whole platform...fairs fair IMO. It will also give Ford something to talk about and prove their trucks are tough, Toyota has it way to easy.

Obnoxious the pricing post RHD conversion....though guarantees a level of exclusivity. Saw a Tundra on the way to work this morning (plate 'TUNDRA', duh).
Interesting packaging on it, doesn't look that big on the road yet I know it is. And typically, Toyota styling is all miscues and oddities. Raptor could find buyers.

The 6.0s sounded awesome too, but in a different way. They have that quiet mechanical sound, but increased fuel pressure and turbo whistle sound. Still sounds big-rig-ish. The new 6.7 is so quiet you can barely hear it, not a bad thing not having to shut the engine off at the drive-thru though.

raptor is awsome, drove one in the us. It is in a different legue to a ranger - much bigger.
I would buy one in a second also, but they are thirsty buggers (you like 30 l/100 km) but still awsome. I hear that we might get the dodge ram - still not a raptor though. it really is like driving in a lounge chair (front and back) |
