Yep, and that's fair enough.

I do think though if the shoe was on the other foot, Holden fans wouldn't be as supportive.

I honestly believe their fans are more loyal.

You think this 3 month waiting list might be a good opportunity for Ford to clear some FGII inventory, given that Holden succesfully ran out the VE's. Be nice to see some banners saying 'AVAILABLE NOW' NO WAIT; but can't see it happening, FoA Marketing has a real aversion to common sense...

What FGII inventory would that be?
Ford is basically selling almost everything it makes, so there's no huge pile of unsold car lying around.....

I think this says Ford should do cheap NA V8 Falcons.

Have they succesfully run out of VE's???! i dont know what the car yards are like down south, but driven past a few Holden Dealerships in qld and still see what appear to brand new VE's in the yards. People are saying thst VE's are sold out, and there aint enough VF's. The production capacity over the last few months, compared to the sales data, just doesnt allow both scenarios to be true.

Even at their reduced rate of 340 (and it was 400, and 340 wasnt supposed to kick in until august) cars a day, they had capacity of roughly 14000 in june and july. Minus 4600 cruzes for local and export, and that leaves 9400 cars (add another 2400 if you work of the 400 a day figure). take of a thousand for change over issues from VE to VF, and if anyone can explain to me where the other 8400 (to 10800) production units have gone, i would be most grateful.

Maybe another way to look at this is that you need to wait for V8's but you can have a 6 by 5:00pm tonight. So maybe they just got the build mix wrong, or could be short on V8 stock.. etc....my position is to see how this stands in 3+months before the boast is actually a positive rather then spin. In another thread 400 workers took redundancy packages, so we have big wait for v8's and a big drop in staff about to take place. Unless there is going to be a massive leap in plant efficiency something doesn't add up

No real surprises here, VF is a great package in all trim levels. After years of VE, the V8 GMH fan base finally has something fresh to update to.

I am sure if Ford were to release an XR8 with the 315kw 5.0 V8 for around $42k in base and about $50k for a track pack version, there would be a pretty long wait on those as many would be willing to upgrade etc.

Chevrolet SS is around $44K there which is a lot more than Holden was asking for Pontiac G8 (~$30K)
The high price explains why Chevrolet is only planning on selling around 5000 a year.

Especially when the Camaro is was designed and initially put together here and is nothing more than a VE/F with different sheet metal. Same car, different price.

Considering the last time Commodore saw sales of over 3000, was February 2012, I'd be celebrating too. Anyway, Hilux, 3 and Corolla are nudging 4-4,500 in a good month so 3,000 is pretty good for a large car.

yes, it's a piddly amount for Chevrolet, but a huge boost for Holden. Same could be said for Falcon. They'd only need a tiny amount to start making useful volumes, to justify keeping the factory open.

I don't think so, I think they based those numbers on the fact they have positioned it as a premium vehicle with a premium price. Hence why sales will be fairly small for them.

Ford should slash 10k off the GS just to get the brand out there more. The price is outrageous on them in comparison to the VF SSV.

Agreed!
Ford needs to sack all their Sales Marketing Team and rehire an new Aggressive Sales Team with a Aggressive Sales Stratergy and really put the Falcon out there. Aggressive Media Ads and Sales. Ford should help out the Dealerships and let them do what they suppose to do. Sell Cars and be competitive with Holden. Ford needs to sell sand to the arabs and ice to the eskimos.

Let's see if they can sustain 3000 every month. The fact that a large percentage are V8s should be VERY concerning. Once the enthusiasts have picked up their new V8 after 7 years of the VE, how many 6 cylinders will be sold?

I can't believe they don't see that the writing is on the wall. The fact that there are so many V8s sold should be a concern, not a celebration. People haven't just decided that V8s are the way to go. This is just the back log of "enthusiast" VE owners who had nothing to upgrade to for 7 years.

When things settle down, they will be lucky to sell 1800 - 2000 per month.

Why would Ford adjust their prices? That could lead to more sales which would go against their agenda.

I know a dealer who did just that... He slashed 10 kay off every GS he had in stock... did he sell them?? No!

Ended up having to slash $15k off the price, and he still has a few left.

My neighbour just bought a VF SSV and got it off the floor... Theres a few around, its only if your picky about colour / options.

Bit like when FPV came out and said they had sold all the Cobras on the first day on sale... What they really meant was every dealer took the allocations made available to them... They didn't retail them to customers!

No doubt Holden's telling the same "story". Dealers are keen to get stock of V8's because there has been very little around this year, mostly SV6 Z packs and a few V8's. Calais V V8's have been rare as hens teeth!
