Anyone else find it ironic the Koreans are testing a RWD large sedan with a V6 and V8 in 2013?

Very ironic. Then again, the price point will be the biggest swayer if it makes it all the way here.

Bentley just called, they want their badges back. Do they think people are stupid enough to be confused by the badges enough to thinks it's a Bentley or something?
Looks too much like a 5 series with a SsangYong Stavic grille. |

The old saying "A fool and their money are soon parted" comes to mind, because that's exactly what Hyundai buyers are - fools. Steal design cues from various other marques, throw in some fancy gimmicks and you will reel them in. Too bad the core product is typical cheap and nasty disposable Korean crap.
With so much choice these days I cannot fathom how a Hyundai could make it onto ones list, let alone be a desirable car. Personally I would rather slash my wrists and bleed to death. |

While the badge comment is more than fair... I suppose they could become Ford and not build a global RWD at all... That is far more original!

Whats global about it, they use it for one sedan and a coupe?
No different from Mustang being available in coupe and convertible. |

The reason these cars have never come to Australia is we know about how cheap and nasty Hyundai have been, and although they might have improved now to be able to be a mainstream brand, they will never have the reputation/class of a genuine luxury vehicle. I'd bet if someone pulled up at a snobby country club in one of these the Lexus, Audi, BMW and Merc owners would laugh the owner out of the place. And Hyundais Australian execs know this, and have routinely said they cannot justify the sale price of these cars previously for what is essentially a Hyundai. They considered the Sante Fe as borderline too costly for one. They might get the coupe in cheap enough but I doubt we will ever see the sedan. |

Australians have changed their brand buying habits. Its not the 70s, 80s, 90s anymore.

Badge snobbery and elitism is still existent. But only to those who can afford it. These days it's not that many, hence the reason why people are giving Hyundai a chance. It depends on if you give 2 F's about what Joe blogs thinks of your ride or not, or you just want value for money.

Perhaps the brand that first had a circle badge should call every other brand that also has a circle... seriously....

Obviously completely has no clue about cars. Probably doesn't want to admit there cash flow is no longer what it used to be and couldn't afford a new Merc. |

The Genesis was supposed to be sold in Australia with the availability of a V8. That was over a year ago. Perhaps this model will. It might fill a void in the wake of the decline of our industry, but looking at this thread, there will be a few who will refuse to give it a second thought because it's a Hyundai.

Is it really that hard to understand that someone may actually like the way something drives over something else? So he has no clue about cars because is own personal preferential about one car over another? You're usually an intelligent poster, but that post looks like the result of a brain fart.

Hyundais have always been known as poor in terms of steering feel and handling. Although they have improved a bit lately they still cannot compare to a proper drivers car like a Merc or even most Fords which are well renowned for excellent steering and ride/handling. No one eyedness about this, its fact. Read any car review and then go out and drive a Hyundai and compare it to an equivalent model and see. Even a retarded monkey could tell the difference. The issue is most people are too blinded by RRP.
