Car enthusiasts view older vehicles as classics. Some even go to car shows to see old muscle. My guess is the people poking fun are pimply faced no hopers with out a life. ;)

Nothing wrong with a 5.6 litre stroker T3 Falcon!!!! -can see these appreciating over time as was the top of the tree in factory 5.0 v8 development/ hand built engine with a lot of good parts and of course. -Aussie! Times change.. -allways.. In 15 years when cars have nuclear power, can time travell when they hit 88 mph and have 1.21 jiggawatts of power we will look back at how todays cars are so thirsty and heavy and slow. |

Until recently every V8 powered car manufactured in this country stood in the mighty performance shadow cast by the FG F6..........

In regards to my original post regarding an XR6 N/A easily beating a HO III, i was some what misguided. but saying that, this the test that was coming to mind at the time.. it was a dead heat between the 2.. (i was thinking at the time the Xr6 won)
http://www.motormag.com.au/features/...o-against-xr6/ and this is with a V8 supercar driver at the wheel/pedals. so its a fair compare between to the 2, same driver, same day. And the 500k was just an example price to make my point and people have both paid above and below this figure, but its still more the then the $40k for a Brand you XR6/SV6/ZR6....

1 new car.. 2 old car... 3 classic A B series xr6t is currently in 2, which is probably where an owner might get mocked. IMO nothing wrong with a XR6T, I think they're awesome but to the general public they are much more likely to be seen as just an old falcon than my XYGT or my XA GT. |

Of course they do, Nostalga has it's place and will always find enthusiasts.
There's still people doing up the original Ford flathead V8 from 1932 with an aftermarket supporting them.

There are some very hot young Victoria's Secret models but that doesn't prevent me appreciating some of the female newsreaders that are older but still smokin' hot...like Natalie Barr.

Yes, and I'm sure there are guys around her age now that would see her on Television, turn to the left and think to themselves 'spewing I got rid of her back then' ....similar to some blokes that sold their GT`s back in the day.

The best V8 engine for allround performance and economy that Holden ever produced was the 253. Now both Holden and ford have moved to these huge unefficient V8's that deliver worse fuel efficiency even with 30 years more technology.
Seriously who wants a 6 litre V8 for a family vehicle? |

last thing I'd want for a family car would be a stupidly over powered car. I can see the fun side of it, thou I'd be worried about family members getting into trouble with it and getting hurt

Nothing like a tough windsor powered falcon they sound awsome, and when I see someone cruising in one it doesn't matter if it runs 15s or 10s the dude driving is loving every second and couldn't care less what someone on the interwebs thinks.

I would prefer an old clevo than these modern day engines, there just not right.
You can feel a clevo when you give it to her From what i have read newish v6 petrol 4wd's don't get much better fuel economy plus they rev higher than my 351 bronco. |

Who cares how old it is, if people like something and get enjoyment from owning or using it then of course it has a place!
What a stupid thread.....

All this thread needs is the sound effect of an older V8 cruising by when you open it, to answer the question.

Probably some mock the oldies because they look at figures on paper and they have had no experience driving or being in any of them, i have no doubt if the mockers had a good drive of them for a while or did a run up the highway they would see them in a whole different light and would fall in love with them.... warts an all .
