Honestly 7000 rpm was so easy. Trust me I was surprised as well. I thought the 5.4 would struggle above 6000 rpm. It easy went there. My friend owns the car now and it's still going strong. Sold it 3 years ago for a 5.0 litre gtp.

Pretty good pluses i reckon.

I reckon a lot of the rock and roll on early BA idle was probably tune anyways...
Yeah exactly, hence why back then I waited for the BF, and I wont ever part with it.

And the pod gauges and bigger rear brakes and few other minor things like the clock on top of the rear view mirror. All up the bf is the way to go. At least you want have to pay $4000 to change the chains and tensioners. That alone made me pay extra for the bf.

I spent 18 months looking for an immaculate manual BA or BF GT with less than 120,000km on it, my budget was 25k. i stopped looking mid last year. I did miss out by a few days on a few good ones though. I looked at around 10 and never found one that was clean. I found most of the decent ones were on there for ridiculous money just to keep the MRS happy. If you buy a cheap example of an FPV be prepared to spend a lot of money if you want to get it up to an acceptable standard.

So long as it was a series 2 BA when the engine got sorted out it shouldn't be a problem

What i like about the BA that the BF lacks are the finer details with the interior trim. BA got GT insignia seats with matching colour stitching to the exterior paint colour. A nice touch. Door sills also got the GT emblem.
BF just got the white FPV logo.... a bit of a baxkwards step in that area IMHO.

I prefer Blood orange to mandarin, blue print to shockwave, but prefer the 6 speed(T56 & ZF) to the 5 speed.
I love Vixen but I think I'd prefer Blood orange or even blue print if I was to get one.
Very tough choice, all great option.

I'd like one. They were a bit of an underdog in their day in some ways but I would still really like one. White BAII on the factory 18's, manual with a nice sounding exhaust would do me just fine. Cool, understated.

I think of all the GT's I wouldn't buy, the non supercharged FG's are it.

Don't disagree with anything said here - If I had some spare cash and a big garage, I'd put a manual Blood Orange or Phantom GTP in there. It's been so long since I drove a V8 manual!!

I Love ALL GTs.

Don't worry about a 13 year old gt. Trust me drive a new xr8 manual and you will do all you can to buy one. A 1000 times better in every way.

Some of us don't have the budget, therefore making an older GT pretty good value. I have been studying carsales for a couple of months now and have narrowed my choice down to either a BF or FG1 as they both seem to represent good value, I know the charged ones are king but the 5.4 has more power than I can use most of the time anyway. Now just got to find a buyer for my XR50T.

Prices have slipped into the 12k-14k range hence the question.
It won't have the street cred and obviously not the blistering accelleration of your Aution.

Surely not another alias...?

boss351290 a better option than an XR8 for someone looking for a GT would be an FGII GT with the Miami (if it were in budget).

The XR8 is a nice car, but if the person is looking for a GT it wont do.

I agree with most of what people have said here, get a MKII for all the little things they learnt from the original that were improved.

FG 315 is another unwanted duckling.
FG 335 and up are the current performance kings.
Rightly or wrongly i always thought the FG 315 would be a sought after model , having the last of the 5.4 NA engines with the most power and refinement of its creed ?

It had the best evolution of the local 5.4 but it was wrapped up in a subjectively worse looking "GT" dress code.

FG should have been released with the 5.0 S/C engine from the beginning and the 351 at that !!! ( realistically BF1 series should have received the 302 and BF series 2 should have had the twin throttle body 315 )

As it stands , FG GT still commands a premium over B series so all is not lost for N/A 5.4 FG.

If I thought I could afford it, id be going for a black ba mk1 gt, 5 speed for a few reasons.
First, I've always been a believer that ford got the exterior styling right with the ba. Best looking falcon since the x series!!
It's also the first modular v8 to be released, and the only modular v8 to be released with a 5 speed manual.
One day ill be able to get one and start a collection lol might not ever be considered a collectors car, but it definitely has my respect.
I ended up choosing the bf over ba because of the 6 speed, timing chain tensioners, and my brother had a BA at the time lol

I have a blood orange ba GT and love it , I went for the ba over the bf as I wanted the GT lettering in the seats and I prefer the ba body kit they also have a slight rock on idle that was taken out with the bf . but as other have said try and find one that had all the problems fixed already as they can be expensive to repair .

Bit puzzled as to why your mate would buy one that needed the tensioners done when theres plenty out there with em done already...he must have got god to change them to pay $4000.Bought mine with them done, lowered, exhaust done and a nice set of BBS rims...sorted.Love the thing and no regrets nor any desire to replace it with a BF.Fwiw i reckon if your looking for a GT then look harder and find a GTP the difference in price these days is very little.

I saw a Phantom BA XR8 yesterday actually and its body was in mint condition, a tad lowered it looked really really tough. They are not a very adventurous design but they have a solid/tough look that I havent really appreciated before.
