Why would you want a Jan build if your planning on a latter purchase date anyway

The OP hasn't actually stated that they wanted a later Purchase Date.
If that were the case all he need do is tell the Dealer this.

I think it's a bit unrealistic to expect your new car to be built in a desired/selected month on request in the current climate.

As I originally said, in a few years time when its resale value becomes important, the difference in valuation between a Jan & an April Territory will be nil. The car's value will depend on kms, condition & service history.

You would have thought that the buyer would have been happy to receive his 2016 plated car earlier than expected, unless finances were the issue.
