Falcon never had a look in - only has 5 seats and no wagon version. Territory is too big and too thirsty. Falcon is definitely not the multi use family car for today's needs. I have more usable space in the back of my Kia than my mates Falcon and a much more functional cabin. More cup holders too I reckon it would out do my mates Falcon in the corners too, straight line he would leave me for dead though.

But as a work ute my Falcon it hard to beat for what I use it for.

Kia/Hyundai not as good as Falcon......lmao. The worlds moved on, I'm a motoring enthusiast and love what's on the horizon. The Stinger will shyte on any Falcon comfort/touring wise. I grew up on Ford 6s, spent endless holidays as a kid travelling between Rockhampton and Sydney in a range of Ford 6s, and I've got one of the last F6s that I absolutely love and will have forever.......but to think these Stingers are less of a vehicle than a Falcon your only kidding yourselves. The worlds moved on. If my F6 is anything to go off then Ford would never have been so dumb as to offer a 7 year warranty on their Falcons - they would have gone outa business years ago.

I've got my Ford, I love it but I wouldn't compare it to what's now coming out. Bring on the Stinger I say.

As the Toyota boss has said recently - 'there's one thing that scares me - Hyundai'.

When have Kia ever made a car with ride/handling/steering as good as any Ford competitor? Never.

BS - we've got a Hyundai as our second vehicle. My brother has a Kia as his second vehicle.

As I said I love my F6 but the world has moved on and will keep moving on. The cars will just keep
getting better.

EDIT - even thinking that way they're tuning them to Australian roads, you think they're wasting their time?

Every comparison I have seen says the same thing. They just can't get the tuning right. They are improving but not there yet.

Default Re: Even hotter Kia Stinger in the works

I get the anger towards the new kid on the block, and for it to be a Kia is also reason for a gripe or two... But let's not forget one thing... Ford US made the decision to kill (and not invest in) Falcon.

We've all talked about the economy, the fall in interest for the family 4 door RWD sedan etc for decades now. But at the end of the day, Ford decided from the good old US of A that they didn't want to provide that platform period. There's still a chance (last I read) that Lincoln will get a new 4 door RWD sedan, but Ford killed it globally.

So for a guy like me, who wants a performance large 4 door RWD family sedan... Ford made the decision for me. Not the other way around. Why would I buy something from Ford that I don't want, just because it's a Ford? That would be just plain insane!

If another make offers what I want then I'd be stupid to not consider it. The question for me is, would I buy one if Falcon was still around? Probably not... But I'd still want to know what it's competition is (same way we have always compared Falcon to Commodore). Now that there is no Falcon or Commodore (very soon), Kia, Mercedes and BMW are worth comparing cause they are the only options available to me.

At the end of the day Ford don't offer what I want. Simple as that.

If nothing else, it is a vehicle that if it creates demand, will bring in other manufacturers to compete against it.

It will also be interesting to see what the aftermarket / tuning world can do with this platform also.

Most won't touch it to avoid warranty issues and even if they did it's probably not the engine that will limit moderate outputs. Trans and diff may not be as venerable as the falcon gear particularly compared to the M86 and ZF combo, not to mention firewall rigidity etc..

To me it's a win win for the consumer irrespective of the demographic.
If Holden and Ford continued and news came out last week that Holden was bringing out a twin turbo V6 commodore to take on the Barra the fans would be over the moon - the forums would go into meltdown. Instead they've both been killed off and in steps Kia with a 4.9 to 100km/h rear wheel drive twin turbo V6 - with a 7 yr warranty to boot. Bloody good thing in my book. What is someone going to pay for a Merc/BMW with similar performance, and what sort of shyte warranty are you going to get after handing over all that hard earned. It's going to make the likes of Merc and BMW take note.

Look at the Merc ute coming out, Merc want a piece of the biggest market in this country and they say it will be priced to compete with the Ranger. Merc, BMW etc are a business like Hyundai/Kia, and at the end of the day will adapt to a market if a product is embraced enough. The flow on effect will be a good thing for the aftermarket performance industry also.

I've gota take my hat off to the Koreans, they've stepped straight into ring with a vehicle that is nearly as quick as my F6......good on em'.

It's definitely going to be a vehicle that you'll take note of if it rocks up next to you at the lights.

Cant wait for the stinger. I will be moving my G6ET on and getting one. Ive driven the recent optima GT and it is very comfortable, smooth handles as good as my G6ET is way more comfortable and build quality is in another league. And 7 year warranty and circa $50k for the stinger.

Could say the same about some of the articles about the Fords/Holdens over the years regarding their 0-100 times. Other articles have put the time at 4.9. Time will soon tell. I'd put money on it that an 8 eight speed auto pumping that amount of horsepower will do it in well under 6 sec. The journos will soon be thrashing a few through their paces

It takes a whole second to get the extra 4km/h? How do you know that?

Jesus, calm down ladies. If you don't want to think about a performance RWD Korean car then don't read the thread. I think it's a fantastic looking car and will be interested to see if its performance matches its looks. My G6ET isn't going to last forever so it's something I'll be considering when the time comes and if it's a good thing I'd certainly buy it. Forget the badge and sum the car up on its merits when it becomes available.

No problem with the time stated or the intent of the car. It will fill the gap for those looking to play in this area at an affordable price point. Was just pointing out that it may not be at the performance level some are making it out to be.
I imagine if it sells well and KIA are serious about the product going forward that it will see major improvements and power hikes.
