In Sydney in recent days E10 has been well under $1 at several outlets (98.9 Mon. 97.8 Tues & 95.3 this morning Wed) & at the same time not one or two suburbs away they are advertising $1.68.9.

That's over 70c disparity, go figure !!

Who would have thought we would see the day of it under $1 again?

Last time 98 was under a dollar I celebrated by driving Sydney-Mudgee return via Denman and Wollar. Got it in a single tank, too (not a Falcon).

The falling $AUD (under 60cents USD today) will cancel out a bit of the falling Oil Price ... In my Opinion..

A busy (18 pumps) local indie has just dropped 98 again, down to 126,5. Either they’re betting or they have word.

Driving to work saw E10 range from around $1.10 to $1.60...

20c difference even with the same independent about 1km from each other.

Who’s fault is it? Drivers for not shopping around or companies charging what they think they can get away with?

Plenty of fuel for close to a dollar a litre around the place.

Yep, seeing even 97.9 for 91 here in SA. Thought I bought the bottom at 109.9 couple of days ago, turns out I was trying to catch a falling knife. It's a psychological milestone price...I still remember the silent rage we all felt as we saw the servos add the extra digit on their big signs to introduce dollar+ pricing.

Wonder what it would be if AUD hadn't shat the bed further.

No real difference here at least for 98. Remember any drop in price will only apply to new supply anyway. And I reckon the low AUD will cancel it out a lot. Crashed hard.

They are not going to charge less for fuel they have already bought but they will definitely charge more when the output price goes up

I shake my head at the number of people you see filling up at the stupid high prices, when just down the road it's heaps cheaper. Some people are happy to be ripped off.

If everyone avoided these high price servos we would get lower prices across the board.

Or maybe the people who are filling up elsewhere have company fuel cards, or dont give a stuff about the extra $5?

Society should be used to >$1.50, accept and move on.

You have to giggle at people in rural area's crying foul, if fuel prices are that dear to yoru heart move to the city.

Where did the $5.00 saving calculation come from ?

If you fill up at 90c a litre & the servo down the road is $1.60 (a scenario not uncommon in Sydney) you're saving 70c a litre.

If you're filling a typical Commodore or Falcon (say 60 litres only, could be over 70 litres) that's a saving of $42.

OK 70c is the extreme case, but say it's "only" a 50c disparity, you're still saving $30 !!

In these tough times $30-$40 goes a long way.

Melbourne is $1.60/L for 91 at least going from CBD to SE Suburbs.

Bulla in Melbourne NW was $1.159/L for 91

Central VIC hovering around $1.239/L for 91

Clearly I CBF'd calculating it, but by all means jump on the phone and find the best deal. Drive 10 mins out of your way and save save save.

We have been paying $$ for ages and now all of a sudden its a problem.

Has anyone's income actually stopped? If so sure be angry, but best you stop driving then.

This whole saga will show how superficial and precious everyone is, bigger things to worry about the fuel prices if your not driving to work.

I'm not phoning around to get the best deal, or driving around either.

To some people a $30 or $40 saving is being "precious" to others like me who run a company fleet of several cars, all of which fill up several times a week it amounts to many $100 saving per week ?

Luckily in NSW we have a government administered website called fuelcheck.nsw.gov.au where you can check out all the servos in your area (or right across Sydney if you want) get the prices instantly. No phoning, no driving.

I'm not the type of guy who drives across town to save $2 or $3 but when you're talking $40 (or $100s in my case) it's a different story. If you knew me you would find I'm far from "precious".

Precious comment wasnt directed at you, you just have to read some of the threads here to see how people are blowing up.

Tired of people blaming corporate's when they have the choice not to engage with them.

If a couple of servo's are out of line the market will make sure they change suit pretty quick.

People are quick to get angry about Gov control but when it hits them personally all of a sudden there should be investigations and crack downs.

Its a bit much to expect servo's to vary prices on crude oil and AUD at a drop of the hat...imagine if every industry or good was subjected to the same scrutiny.

These sites have been around for well over 12 months.
With a price difference ~50 cents a litre it’s well worth shopping around.

Some reports have the south side of Brisbane selling for under $1.00.

recon fuel prices will fall heaps if we end up in lock down
seeing theres going to be very little air travel soon as well as ocean travel
heck even interstate travel is bout to come in to affect
and people wont be going any where so to sell fuel recon prices will drop till fuel becomes a need again
