I never put my hand on the centre or the 'handle bars' of the wheel as it's way to dangerous and you have close to no control.

Do you think holding the 'handle bars' is less safe than the method you use? Seriously, with your arms crossed so the left is on the right of the wheel, and the right on the left of the wheel, I would question you ""control"" at all! Or do you sit on the dash, looking over your sholder all the time??

You have alot less control and less movement from cross to cross. Also in the even or emergency turning you will not have the same contol, less grip on wheel too. Finally in the newer cars your arms have nowhere to go in the even of the airbag going off so you will end up with serious burns.

I have NFI what you ask re: ""control"". Ya making no sence.

Read your first post carefully. Follow your steering wheel hand placements! Now place your right hand between 10 and 11. Now your left aroung??? 2 or 3!

Depends on the road conditions really, usually the above with left arm on the console. If it's wet and windy, or at higher speeds both hands on the wheel, with The Maddestman looking for anything he can grab a hold of. :hihi:

As for me, well I do the whole 10-2 or 9-3 thing, but mostly the left hand is on the gearshift because in this local area my car rarely makes it to 5th.

When I'm crusing in the EA, it's easy peasy being an auto so I just sit there, looking gorgeous, windswept and interesting. Well SOMEBODY has to.

Oh yeah, I forgot, it all depends which car I'm driving. When I was still driving the Escort, it was usually left hand on shifter, right arm resting on arm rest with right hand at about 9 on the wheel, and any passengers wishing I had sports seats to stop them moving as much every time I cornered and explored the limits of grip...

I don't drive the XF anywhere near as close to the limit as I used to drive the Escort :(

pends on the speed, anything over 130-135 it's 10-2 otherwise it's at 3 and the other hand it resting on the T bar, thats what happens when you learn in a manual
