It was just becomming dawn and I was walking away from my girlfriends house, i stopped suddenly in the driveway, turned around, I opened the screen door and went to my girlfriends room and said quietly to her.

"Honey, your dad's got a shotgun and he's sitting on my bonnet..."

And so began my first marriage.

a bit off topic, but its the oposite of mitch, maybe

Little Johnny and Jenny are only 10 years old, but they just know
that they are in love.

One day they decide that they want to get married, so Johnny goes
to Jenny's father to ask him for her hand. Johnny bravely walks up
to him and says "Mr. Smith, me and Jenny are in love and I want
to ask you for her hand in marriage."

Thinking that this was the cutest thing, Mr. Smith replies, "Well
Johnny, you are only 10. Where will you two live?"

Without even taking a moment to think about it, Johnny replies
"In Jenny's room. It's bigger than mine and we can both fit there
nicely."

Still thinking this is just adorable, Mr. Smith says with a huge
grin, "Okay then how will you live? You're not old enough to get a
job. You'll need to support Jenny."

Again, Johnny instantly replies, "Our allowance...Jenny makes 5
bucks a week and I make 10 bucks aweek. That's about 60 bucks a
month, and that should do us just fine."

By this time Mr. Smith is a little shocked that Johnny has put so
much thought into this. So, he thinks for a moment trying to come
up with something that Johnny won't have an answer to.

After a second, Mr. Smith says, "Well Johnny, it seems like you
have got everything all figured out. I just have one more question
for you. What will you do if the two of you should have little
ones of your own?"

Johnny just shrugs his shoulders and says "Well, we've been lucky
so far..."

If there is a problem between two people, instead of posting in a thread like this, can it please be taken elsewhere, or even better, can the people involved agree to disagree on whatever the issue is.

Falcon Coupe, no offense, but you were not there that night, nor do you know the full story, so I don't think it's right to be so quick to judge like that. I don't think there is any need to bring up things like this, and I see no need to continue an argument on a public forum, particularly now that the argument has nothing to do with the thread topic.

LuvinmyEB, you have stated your opinion, which you (and others) have every right to do, as long as it does not clash with the terms and conditions of this site. I can understand why people might overreact to the way you stated your opinion, but all they have to do is say "I disagree" and leave it at that.

Now I don't think this needs to be taken any futher in this thread, do we all agree on that?

Getting back to the topic...

To be honest, I don't remember properly how I asked, I know we were watching a movie... But I probably just don't remember just yet because I'm still only 1/2 awake...

Im not saying that i wouldnt want a life long partner its just with the issues with divorce and all that you never know whats gonna happen.

I just would think that breaking up would be hard enough without having to go through the legalities of it all. Not to mention things often get quite heated during the divorce so its possible to come out of it all with a sour taste in your moutn.

Might seem a bit negative but you can do the ceremony and all that without actually having it on paper.

And as for kids. I just dont have the patience for them so it would be rather unfair to have them when i dont want them.

And after all this some chick reckons i would be a good dad lol. Glad she f**ked me over before i had a chance to find out.

(PS. this is after i yelled out of my car window at some parent who let their kid wander the street by themselves)

An honest answer...however piece of paper or not after three months of living together(defacto relationship) so same routine for divorce, but thats life you takes your chances and it either works or it does'nt.

however it is far better if there is a split that there are no kids.

So until your ready to commit and take a chance..enjoy the SINGLE life.

There is something very real and confronting about signing a legal document and making a public declaration in front of everyone you know and love... There are many people who suddenly realise how serious the decision is when they approach that altar, hence the amount of people who call it quits on or just before the wedding day. For me, if somebody can face that moment of truth and go through with it then I'll feel that they're more serious about the commitment than saying so in other ways. If you think its just a piece of paper have a look at the sweat pouring out of the groom at the next wedding you go to lol

WRONG it is entirely upto to you...to find out if that special someone is on the same wavelength as you..if they're not then they're not that special someone.

Having said that I don't care if your male or female if you really think that you have found your soul mate...then ask them to committ...its the only way you'll ever know.

At least you won't spend years thinking you've got it right...only to find out you were the interim before the real deal!

Yeah, you find out pretty quickly you were the interim..... but its the years that you spend wondering what you did wrong that get ya....

My wife asked me after a long courtship of 2mths. She cemented this commitment by becoming pregnant 4 weeks later. Were still very much married 16 years and 4 kids later.
