It's a ripper photo isnt it. I have a steve starling fishing book somewhere, and in it describes a day where they caught some decent size gamefish and were pulling them into the boat, when a great white seemed to come up out of the water and looked as though it peered into the boat. Bet they would of left pretty quick while the shark was having a chuckle...lol

Dolphins in packs have been known to kill sharks (raming the soft belly or gills or Sharks).

You'd always put your money on the Shark true, with those teeth, but Dolphins are the only animal apart from humans that have sex for fun (as far as I know) - so in that case, I'd want to come back as a Dolphin. :hihi:

Most shark attacks on humans are from a wrongfull assumtion that they are a seal or something else.
You see it often regarding shark attacks that they take a bite and realise its not what they thought it was and they then ИИИИ off.
Theres no need to get paranoid about swimming at your local beach either as youve got more chance of winning lotto than a shark giving you a love bite(unless of course you go for a swim in a seal colony).

I also remember a couple of years ago a world record tiger shark(815kg) was caught down bermiguey(spelling) area with a dolphins head in its gut.

Make sense. The interesting part is that when cruising to the beach, just glancing at the stats would suggest to me that one would be far more likely to be killed driving to the beach, than when hitting the surf. Even if you are hardcore and head right out.

The suggestions that sharks are somehow "cold" or "mean" are obviously completely ridiculous as, as many other have pointed out, they are just animals who act on impulse and aren't conscious of what they do. Lastly, widespread culling is both ineffective and stupid. I frequent both calm beaches and surf beaches, and accept the risks. Just like we all accept the risks of driving at 110km/h with semi's hurtling the other direction at the same speed a mere metre from our skulls. Spend the money making the roads safer.

There, I related it to cars .

Does that pic look more like a dolphin to anyone else? Seems to have a slimlined body with a pointy sfin...sharks seem to have a bit more depth to the body shape

On another note, did anyone see the shark show on a few weeks back where a dive crew were swimming and one of the ladies got bitten by a great white inbetween the 2 boats with onlookers on each (all of it was filmed), then as she tried to swim to the boat it took her under and ripped off her right leg. She said she felt a "pop"..... then had to have the wound bandage up for hours till they got back to shore

It's a sharks domain, just like a lion has the jungle

Saying you have a greater chance of getting killed driving to the beach is seriously flawed.

For argument's sake, 95% of the people at the beach will of driven there. How many of those 95% are out there surfing with the sharks?

Personally, I am more scared of walking in the city and getting stabbed by a human than going swimmimg and getting bitten by a shark.

Who is colder and meaner???

Beware! Man eating shark.

Come to think of it ,it does look like a dolphin instead of a shark, especially with its tail fin being flat not upright.

Good observation.

i would say that it is a shark because
-the tail appears vertical (although hard to tell, but a shadow atleast is there)
-the dorsal fin is different to a dolphin
the body shape and length also resemble more of a shark than a dolphin....just my opinion

Its bloody big but the top of the tail is nowhere near as clearly defined as the dorsal fin- normally the tail will come close to the top of the dorsal. That looks like it could be horizontal to me, making me think that it could be a dolphin??

Regardless, its ИИИИin big and I probably wouldnt stop to scruitinise it!!

The only good type of shark is the one on the end of my hook!
We have caught some big hammerheads off NSW, were we have looked at the size of our 20 foot boat and looked at the size of the shark and cut the line cos it has been the length of the boat.
