Just drank a couple of Rooftop Red Lagers, from Matilda Bay Brewery. Anything from the Matilda Bay brewery is pretty good, Beez Neez, Red Back, Bohemian Pilsner.
Coopers Sparkling is my staple beer, and Pale is great to! James Squire has some nice beers. |

On the other side of the coin, I think the worst beers I have ever had were in NZ, blah, muddy water goes close to describing them.

A mate of mine is currently in Germany at some Heineken festival. He said that most Euro beers taste completely different over there, much more full in flavour. He's getting used to drinking room temperature beer as well. |

Most beers in AU are low on hop character, and most beers in the US are low on... well everything... it does make the European beers stand out in quality and taste.
That being said there are exceptions. Samuel Adams Boston Ale is a superb drop, but alas unavailable at the local boozatorium.

Long story short, my old band supported a band from the US called Machine Head. Their Sydney management arranged for heaps of American grog to be in their dressing rooms. They had like 4 cases of Samuel Adams, but none of them drank beer, so they gave it all to us. It's the only US beer I've had that was really good. It'll put hairs on ya chest. |

If I'm poor - Tooheys Old. Great for a cheap beer.
I'll usually buy Coopers Sparkling or James Squire Amber Ale if I'm feeling rich. |

I guess another thing that needs to be said is that there are different categories of beer as far as how much of them you drink & when you drink them.
Example: If I'm drinking over a period of 8 hours, there's no way I'm gonna drink James Squire Amber Ale. Reason, after the first 2 or 3 your pallete can't really understand the subtle flavours anymore, and your wallett will be damaged. I'd rather have a simple beer like Carlton Draught or Melbourne Bitter "sessional beer". Your first simple beer tastes exactly like the 10th one. On the other hand, if I'm at say a business function at a classy resturant, I'll have something a bit more sophisticated, something that'll go with what I'm eating maybe. I know that can sound a little camp, but just try it. How good is this advert, gotta love Smithwicks Ale: |
