You don't need to call the police for that.

I don't know what state you are in. But in Victoria, if you are involved in a collision, you only need to contact police if
A) Someone is injured.
AND/ OR
B) Either party refuses to exchange details. Or third party property damage where the owner of the other property (including vehicle) is not present.

Nothing to do with the accident itself, more to do with the dangerous driving and hoon behaviour. What's the charge?? "Conduct endangering" I believe??

I thought this is what the hoon laws were brought in for, to stop idiots like this, although stopping them from breeding would be better.

There is a time and a place for this type of driving, and a busy suburban street is not one of them, I'd like to see what poeple might have said had he "almost" hit a little kid on there bike or crossing the road. Before any of you respond with "but he didn't" the point is that he didn't, this time.

My Dad was in an accident the other day... on West Terrace in Adelaide. He was stationary at peak hour on a multi laned city road. P plater in the next lane was still moving and went to change lanes, while looking behind him and didnt realise the traffic in the lane he wanted to go into had stopped..

Very minor really... Dad's bumper was pushed in a bit but apparently the guy's old Subaru was not real flash looking. Dad said he felt bad for the guy and because it wasnt really out of being stupid that the accident was caused, rather than just a mistake, lack of experience etc... he didnt report the accident.

He rang his insurance company and they told him he had to report it to the police. So Dad rang the police and they said that every accident where $1000 damage is caused (in total) has to be reported and they asked him to come in.

So he went to report it and took the report to his insurance company.

I am not sure, to be honest, that I would have reported the one you have described here, but given that it was actually an accident, and that he MAY have been drinking or may have taken something... I may have considered it.

In NSW save yourself the cost of the call no one injured see you later call someone who cares like your insurance company.

You would have to spice up the story a bit to even get a drive by in half an hour let alone some sort of response.

If he was drunk or under the influence of drugs then I say yes , call the police , if he was sober and lost it going around a bend then NO I wouldnt as long as he is ok to call a tow truck and get assisstance etc.
