All depends which car :

02 Mazda 323 Astina - regular unleaded
97 EL Falcon - regular unleaded
74 XB Falcon - 95->98 RON fuel depending on whether I'm racing or cruising

My fuel bill this last fortnight was $272 without the XB. I should get more tax beneifits!

Optimax in the TS50, nothing else. Want to try Mobil Synergy 8000, but the 4c a litre discount dockets win all the time! Specially when I fill up 55-60 litres every fill.

ive stuck with the ultimate or synergy8000

the sprint doesnt get driven enough to worry me with the fuel costs, and the SP20 pings its nuts off if you dont feed it at least 98RON

Mobil Synergy 8000 now, with a bottle of Nulon Octane Booster every 4 trips to Mobil.

I previously used BP ultimate but the nearest station is too far away.

91RON here, no more premium! Once the computer gets used to unleaded, it ran sw33t! It used to run on premium all the time until mid last year, then I switched to unleaded & have never looked back!

Now all I need is a 2nd car on LPG

Premium coz I have to.

I used to go for 95RON to save some $'s but Caltex where I'd get it from have apparently stopped selling it and only do 98RON which was pricier.

F'kers....

My car is considered lower mileage at 15000km a year. I'm spending average $50 a week - that's for 1 car! I have been running Synergy 8000 and then started using Optimax - those 4c off Coles dockets help. The car ran better after about 4 tanks after previously using Safeway unleaded (apparently it's not good) - now I don't want to switch back to any regular unleaded as I noticed it didn't run quite as well - even though it's tuned for 91 RON. I use premium mainly to keep the fuel system cleaner.

I just throw 91 RON in the EF at the moment, with the occasion tank of premo. It'll be on Optimax all the time when the turbo goes on, the last time I used it it was about $1.31/ltr YAY!

Eamon and I both use BP Ultimate 95% of the time. The other 5% we use Mobile Synergy. I have to use 98 as the Unichip is tuned for it. We use about $100 a week between us.

BP Ultimate is everywhere here, you cant escape it! But its good coz its our fav! Synergy is good too but not as common. No Optimax here in SA, and just as well, after using it in Vic a couple of years ago - never again! The guys who tuned my Unichip said it served me right! Hmmmm.

Ultimate has been up to $1.25 a litre here too, mostly around $1.15 though. Gone are the days of fuel for under a dollar per litre! I am almost thinking fondly back to the days of the Festiva which ran on regular ULP and used about $10 a week max.... still, my car is going great at the moment so I am happy to feed it well.

I stick to Mobils 6000 and Caltex Vortex 96 - sort of the in between. Certainly gives my car better performance than optimax.

Used to run 95 or 98 Octane in the EB, but since fuel prices rose to $1+, I've been sticking with regular unleaded. Seems to ping occasionaly when I put Shell or Mobile 91 octane fuel in it, but doesn't on 91 octane BP. Gets about 600kms out of that, funnily enough seemed to use a little more on Optimax, but that probably because I didn't feel so bad flogging it!

On a completely unrelated note, refuse to go back to the shell servo near me, bogans + 12 year old employee + no eftpos = a barral of fun, especially when I was running late to uni.

Pinging = Uncontrolled detonation. It'll stuff your engine quicker than you can say 'bang'. If you hear it, it's quite obviously - and it doesn't sound healthy.

I'm with the BBQ fuel .... hey it's 102RON Octane ... hee hee
no detonation when adding a turbo ... :
And way cheaper.

Although I just stick with normal ULP in the Territory ... if PULP is "cheap" for the price ... I might put a tankful in ... but it's rare.

Fuel up here dropped to 94c/lt. 91RON.

ULP hit the sub $1 mark here today...safeway had the pump price at 99c, so 95c with the discount....

Shell across the road was still over $1 at like $1.09 so under with the 4c discount....

is this something we can expect to stay? these "low" prices

The van always used to drink regular, no point putting PULP in it. When I get a Falcon, it'll be on LPG. 40 cents a litre... very good.

what if high octane fuel causes pinging, does that mean, that the engine hates that fuel? coz i remember, with my old engine it loved BP, now wen i drive with my dif reco'd engine, it cuases pinging, in 2nd only, and wen im driving slow, and i can here it a tad

LOL @ the pulsar ;)

If your still running it in. Oil maybe passing the rings. Which will cause dotonation. Thats why I always flog an engine after 10-20k's from new. Got to bed those rings in

Was just checking out my fathers latest copy of the Rocket Industries race parts catalog and there is VP racing fuels motorsport 103 in there
It's a street legal 100-103 octane fuel which looks like you buy in 200 litre sized containers
Tryed to get onto their site but wouldn't load.
If it's competitively priced, I might get some to try out.

I dare say both will last ages. It's the exise going onto LPG that's going to suck.
