What the bloody hell is going on i just been out to get some fridge parts and some servo's are back up to $1.42 for ULP.

Some are still down to $1.13 and they're full of cars filling up!

Thank god i filled up at $1.14 a few days ago and even filled a Jerry can for the mowers while prices were down.

What the bloody hell is going on now???

Wow, a 29c jump. Hasn't it only been a week since the school holidays? So I expected a jump in another week or so, as we have longer discount cycles now.

Has anyone else noticed that doing business in Australia means fleecing people for as much as you can get while it's legal to do so?

There's no pretence anymore about how costs fluctuate for good reason, it's just generally-accepted that whether it's house prices/electricity prices/fuel prices/whatever... as a business you will **** people the full extent that you can legally **** them and you won't back down until it's legislated against.

The cycle has gotten longer. Use to be weekly then fortnightly and now it's a 3week cycle. Saw it jump and got 98 cheaper then 91 from the servo down the road.

1.49.9 cpl for 91 most parts of Melbourne today. Almost 1.70 for 98. Interesting that the price for crude oil has dropped but the wholesale price for fuel has remained high. The lower AUD doesn't help.

Still some cheaper ones around ... the associated fuelwatch sites are handy when it comes to searching for it.

I just looked on 'PetrolSpy' and where i'm going through today is all $1.49.

How can they do this when the barrel has dropped but how/why has the wholesale price risen?

I don't get it???

Sun spots.

Sometimes I think they manipulate refinery maintenance cycles you to have mini shortfalls in the supply line.

Well i payed $1.53 for 95 today at a United. (yellow handle).

Much better than that E10 crap that burns quicker and is only a few cents cheaper than 91!

I am really getting jack of paying for average quality fuel, refined in Malaysia & then the additives that make it 94 ,95 or 98 octane are added here. The b/s adds from BP & Shell, the tax the govt rakes off the top combined with Australia not refining fuel is very saddening. The older I get, the more i see industry & jobs getting palmed off overseas. Our govt is so bloated & over paid, they are all too stupid to enable & grow industry so they either sell it off or make deals with out any thought to the future beyond their term. Interesting how many politicians are employed in the private sector by contacts made during their term.... 98 octane in Hills District, Sydney was $1:73 yesterday

Gees it must be getting hard up there Rooster.

At $1.73c it would cost most Falcon/Commo drivers a full $100 per week.

Plus you guys have toll roads all over the place.

Melbs has tolls to but not bloody everywhere like up there???

I lived in Melbourne for 25 years and its a much easier city to navigate, that's for sure. I was reading another members post who thinks the future of major road construction will remain in the private sectors hands. I agree 100% with that as the govt can't afford to maintain the average suburban roads let alone hwys etc. When pressed, state blames federal & on and on it goes, whilst nothing gets done & road tolls grow. What main roads do you use the most & what are you paying for petrol atm?

I use the Western Ring Road so no tolls at all.

Was on Eastlink the other day but i rarely use it.

91 is $1.49 at most servo's lately.

United's about 3c cheaper.

You think these prices are dear, go live rural or outback Australia and see the real inflated prices.
The last time I traveled around Australia I was paying up to $2.70 a litre which was about three years ago, I'd be imagining it would be a lot more by now.

Paid $1.51 in Lilydale (outer burbs of Melbourne) on Sunday. Drove to Glenrowan (country VIC) from there and paid $1.21 a litre. Both BP outlets, go figure.

Exactly the sort of thing that does your head in. Where I live, if 98 octane is $1:50, I can promise you 10 kms away I can find three servo's up to 8,9 or 10 cents cheaper. Considering all fuel is equal when it arrives here, as long as the additives are done correctly & all is above board, independent fuel suppliers petrol should be the same as the big three brands.
