I just renewed my drivers licence through the mystic wizardry that is the interweb. So not having to wait in line is one thing, but they still do the 50% discount for people with no demerits for 5 years so $90 for a 5 year licence isnt a bad deal in my books. I much prefer government incentive schemes over harsher punishments.

Picked up my freshly bored XT 221 block from the machine shop today. Finally after 8 weeks I have got everything together, new cam and bearings, lifters, gaskets, ground the shaft, and located the correct pistons, can't wait to start putting the thing together. Not such an easy job anymore locating the correct parts for a fifty year old engine. The 221 & 188 motors were a bit of an orphan, they were only around for about 4 years.

Today I came home from work & all the lazy morons who park illegally, forcing me to slowly edge into the line of traffic to see if I can get out, had parking tickets. They park & catch the bus to work. There are plenty of legal parks, but everybody wants to save 10 or 20 meters walking so they park illegally instead. Now if the inspector comes back every day for two weeks it will knock it on the head, if not, it will be the same tomorrow. As I pointed out to the local council, I do not have the luxury of driving an expensive car, so if I am hit, there is a good chance I will be written off by insurance as the value is not high. It's ok for these people in their expensive 4 cyl cars etc as a few grand for repairs is nothing on a $30k car.

Picking my car up from the Crash repair shop, after one of our local Fauna decided to rearrange the front bar, headlight, guard and drivers door.
And giving the Camry loan car back

Early 90s computer games. Lemmings to be precise. So every tuesday i go for dinner with my son, mum and grandparents at the pub. I pick my son up from school and I do my invoicing for work over a few beers whilst he talks my ears off or plays with my phone before the olds get there. He was all about some games he liked (I wasnt listening) so i said I'll get lemmings on my phone and explained how basic it was as lemmings are brainless. A basic game thats 25 or more years old that can challenge an 8 year old the way it used to for me back in the 90s, well, it beats me only letting him spend $4 in the chocolate claw machine and if he wins only allowing 1 chocolate before dinner.

In this day & age the PC crowd would ban Lemmings for promoting genocide....
The little builders where hilarious. Run out of steps & them leap to their death. I'm a tragic for the late 80s & early 90s stuff. Still have my original Sega Master System, and Super Nintendo (even have the scope gun for it). I bought the Super Nintendo mini when it came out last year. Now a whole new generation are loving Mario, Mario Kart, Yoshi & other characters. |

Beef. I was the bbq technician at my mums place tonight and she bought a really good quality beef fillet. Cut that bad boy into steaks size depending on what people wanted. When i cook you get it how I like it exept I do my grandpas well done because that's how he likes it, charcoal. It was good meat.

RAIN.....We've got hardly a drop all summer , dry as a chip and over the past two nights we've had some solid and sustained falls . Plenty of smiles especially for most with tanks way down .
Also glad to see no reported fatalities from the N.T. cyclone . That's a smile too and hope in Victoria the fires are sorted with the same outcomes with human and wildlife . You can fix property but you can't restore life . |

My wife winning a trophy with the Group A today.
Whilst I was the main judge for the day, I sat back on her car & let my newly anointed assistant come up with the points, based on his experience with the 18 cars we'd already completed. The system I use is very obbjective though - taking out a lot of potential bias from sub-conscious emotion & favouritism towards certain models, colours etc. Tallied up the points, and in her category she scored runner up, best original. Best paint went to a car you wouldn't expect at first - we went all over it, and I reckon the guy must have used cotton buds and model paint brushes to get every skerrick of polish/was out of panel joins, roof & window trims, along edges of lights etc - even the corners of his windows were spotless - like it was new glass. All we could find was some dust around the boot hinges, and a few bugs under the leading edge of the bonnet - but he'd travelled 5 hours to be there, and done a detail just before the show - just unlucky to miss those bugs. I reckon he might be related to GO FURTHER or George with the BF Ghia.... Oh, and some very nice cars cruised in for a look too, including a green XB Coupe - the noise/rumble and appearance of it also made me feel good! |
