I got out in the garden and sorted the weeds. Also went to use the hedge trimmer to cut back a bush and got it all cleaned up. That's good.
But what made me feel really good is a nice hot shower. I can't remember the last time I had a shower beer and it was ****en good! |

Reading Nietzsche always makes me feel good. e.g.
"The worst enemy you can meet will always be yourself; you lie in wait for yourself in caverns and forests. Lonely one, you are going the way to yourself! And your way goes past yourself, and past your seven devils! You will be a heretic to yourself and witch and soothsayer and fool and doubter and unholy one and villain. You must be ready to burn yourself in your own flame: how could you become new, if you had not first become ashes?" - Friedrich Nietzsche. |

Went to my local Dome for breakfast with Paull.
Spotted an absolute cherry XE Fairmont Ghia V8 parked out front. Pounced on the owner when he came out. He told us it has only done 39,000 kays. White, gold pin stripes, snowflakes, chocolate brown interior, special order by the original owner. Under the bonnet was perfect, plenum still had seam sealer along it, not a hint of rust. They're still out there.

The Anzac weekend airshow is on this weekend at the West sale aerodrome.
Aircraft waiting for their turn next in the flying display are holding just to the north of the airfield, which means I can see, and hear, them from my loungeroom. Love me the sound of a radial engine in the morning.

May 1989 - May 2024. 35 years old and still working.
This little truck has served me well carrying 100's of tons of stone over the years.

Hearing from my daughter that she's made it into the third round of interviews to become a cabin crew member for Rex Airlines based out of Cairns.
So that's an online interview, a group interview and then individual interview. Successful interviewees will be informed within two weeks if they are successful to move in to three weeks of ground school in Wagga starting late May. Fingers crossed!

Had a laugh when I read that ^^^^ I used to amuse myself when paying for fuel by saying something other than, Hi how ya goin. I'd say something like "nice nails" if it was a female attendant.. only to get the standard reply of "yeah, good thanks". Used to crack me up. These poor things were like robots. On the odd occasion I would get someone that actually already had the "defib" zap, and would be quite surprised by my comment.. Or I would say something like, What a crap day, only to get a reply of "yeah, good thanks". They just seem to go into AI autonomous mode. I'm at work, time to switch switch off brain.. Poor things. /end observation/

Reminiscing about the days I used to hire brand new NC 5 Litre Fairlane Ghias on a Sunday night (as they were cheaper on Sunday). Some good times were had back then.
if the link above doesn't work.. watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qO7wDFGQB6w It was like taking your lounge chair for a thrash. Great fun in the hills, zero body roll. Great fun on the beach at midnight low tide doing 100 kay an hour full lock drifts holding it wide in 2nd gear. The power economy switch was an excellent feature. When in economy mode it would upshift at 95% throttle, instead of manually shifting. The transmission calibration was amazing also, if you selected 1st gear at 80 kays an hour with zero percent throttle, it was so smooth to downshift, if you had an open can of drink on the console arm rest, it would not spill or fall. It would ever so gently engage 1st until it was fully locked into first cog, with the tacho all the while slowly climbing to 5700rpm. The 8 speaker sound system with 6 stack cd in the boot was awesome, for the time, and all being factory fitted. . . I used to try and make the cd skip while driving it on rough roads, even got it airborne over a railway crossing once, and nope, it never missed a beat. Let the good times roll...

Maybe she’ll later find you an avenue for “soft retirement” as a part time steward.

You never know. Not sure I'd want to do it but I'm sure there'd be worse jobs.

This morning i was driving as you do and the ute behind me changes lanes to pull up beside at the lights. Anyhows the passanger, im assuming the apprentice landscaper gestures for me to put my window down which i did, thinking maybe i have a tail light out or something. But no, he just wanted to say my car sounds mad and ask if it was boosted. No its neither stolen or turboed, just an exhaust on a fairmont ghia. Still the young bloke liked my old car. Typically its just the oldies who say stuff about fairmont ghias, typically along the lines of back when they were new they wanted one but could only justify a futura..

Chipotles en adobo to season my soup at dinner. Great smoky, spicy taste. Got to learn to back off the quantity a little, though - paid for it later.
