Matsos Mango beer or Little Creature's Pale Ale. Any one from WA that hasn't had Little Creature's on tap should be ashamed, it is a million times better at the brewery, it comes straight out of the vats

Been using suggestions from here and other places to buy a 6 pack a day for 50% off (special monthly deal).

This is a pic of the list so far. Pepperjack and St. Arnou have been the best so far. We got a bit loud at the end of the SOO.

I've been over beer lately and have enjoyed the world of cider.

Mercury red from Tasmania is quite a nice drop and have also been sampling home made ciders from around the area.

Very nice!

Yesterday was the highlight in my annual drinking calendar - it was the annual James Squire tour and beer tasting session.

We arrived there at 11, paid our $30, and were served the new 150 Lashes Pale Ale. I'm a Coopers drinker, so for me to enjoy a Pale Ale, it has to match up to Coopers, which, fresh off the Tap, it does. After this, we were sent on a tour of the Brewery - they've expanded a lot since I first went there in 2008. Unfortunately, they still don't make the Golden Ale or Amber Ale on site (Currently brewed in Adelaide), however Chuck is not concerned about that, as the quality is still excellent.

On returning from the Tour, Golden Ale was served with some Sushi. I don't really like Sushi, but went with it anyway. Amber Ale came next, with some Lamb Pies, then Pilsner with Chicken Satay Sticks, and lastly the Porter with Lamington Balls.

Before we left, we were offered a 'Traditional English Ale', made by one of the Brewers on site, which was a combination of the JS Pilsner, the Kosciusko Pale Ale, and some random hops. It was keg matured, and served off a Hand Pump. It was warm, and flat, but tasted fantastic. It was like Apricots, but should it have been chilled and carbonated, it would have been a great drop.

If you're in Sydney, and want to get along to these annual tasting events, join their Beer Club. You've got until next October...

Anyone here in Victoria wants to go to a Brewery, give Holgate Brewery a try in Woodend, the town is one of the exits along the Calder Freeway so its real easy to get to, they do about 7 or 8 different beers and they have a restaurant, one of the things you can order is a paddle of all their beers they make in like 50ml glasses, so you can try everything. You need to book for the restaurant though as its generally busy. Here is the website:

http://www.holgatebrewhouse.com/

They also have accomodation if you want to stay the night and drive around the entire Macedon Ranges or something to make a weekend out of it.

Can't agree with the 150 lashes pale ale andrew...its not a bad beer but i had a six pack recently and was not very impressed. May have been better on tap but frankly the batch i had seemed to very low on hops indeed...hardly discnerable flavour. The fact i had consumed a murrays nirvana pale ale and a sierra nevada pale ale and frankly they were great beers....the js pale ale wasn't in the same league....

Not sure if anyone's tried it, but William Bull brewery have just released a new Lager (William's Premium Lager).

Very smooth initial taste, some slight bitterness at the end but doesn't linger at all and finishes very clean and fresh.

Hard to find at the moment as it's only come out in the last month, but a great new one IMO.

In New Zealand last week caught up with my brother. Had a few of the local beers on thursday night and we decided to have a meal in a mexican restraunt. We ordered our food, and with our judgment slightly impaired due to the local beers we had already consumed. The friendly mexican waiter came with our food and I piped you saying we would love a mexicain beer with our meal. No problem senior! he said and was back in 5seconds with to icy cold bottles of beer. Now the food was rather spicy and my brother and I were ready to skull down an icy cold 1! I smashed half of mine. And STUFF ME It was hotter than the food! It had a giant Jalapeno chilli in it! Man i have never seen that before! Sooo weird icy cold yet too hot to drink!

Summer is coming, meaning it's time to stock up the Erdingers, Schofferhofers and Grand Ridge Blondes (not that low-carb crap)...

I recommend a wheat beer to you all.
Hoegaarden would be the best known, but Erdinger is my number one. They are slightly different styles though...

I bought a case of Cooper Pale Ale and I must say that stuff is poison. I had two last night and had a headache almost immediately and all day today.

I really can't handle anything Coopers. I remember Coopers Sparkling giving me horrid hang overs years ago and nothing has changed.

Lots of people love the stuff, but I'd rather drink paint stripper than anything Coopers.

Yeah its actually made by Woolworths to compete with extra dry. I don't mind either. Ive tried the banana bread beer and its well....very odd.

Sorry but Carlsberg, Becks and Heineken and all the other German beers that are brewed here now are rubbish. The Heineken kegs are awesome as they are still imported and while I'm at it VB is by far the worst beer.. thats right I said it.

Ive found Henninger not a bad beer and its only $32 a case.
