If you end up in a scenario where you need them I bet you'll expect them to be there for you at the drop of a hat yet there's no wiggle room for courtesy in return hey? Just move the phone when asked, give your id/name/address when asked, it doesn't need to be a big scene. |

Except for the start, people should not and should never be treated like cattle. If I am driving, yes you need to be able to prove your identity. If I am walking down the street, I should not have to unless there is "probable cause" (probably and American term). You are sliding down a slope there, not far from "papers please". I choose to turn location services on my phone, i should not be made to. I choose to not have my real name on Facebook. Unless doing something that requires licensing I should be able to choose to remain anonymous. Choice is critical to our way of life.

44 new cases for Australia and 7 deaths sees the CMR rise to 3.039% and active cases drop to 2,379. NSW recorded 9 cases with the balance in Victoria. The Victorian State 14 day moving average is now 65.0 with metro at 54.4 (94 unknown) and regional at 3.9 with only 3 unknown.
2 new cases and zero deaths for NZ so CMR is 1.336% and active cases fall to 97. The UK had 3,330 new cases yesterday. We know they are now not counting their mortalities by the WHO guidelines so we are going to ignore those figures. Just over 39k new cases in the USA yesterday and 707 deaths sees CMR fall to 2.967% and active cases drop to 37.9% with the raw numbers rising again. Note that the USA is actually minus one day due to time differences. Other notable points: Global cases pass the 29M mark with the last 1M taking 4 days again; Global new cases recorded a record high of 310,692; The USA completes 92M, India 56M, Australia 7M & Romania 2M tests; Europe records a new daily high of 41,055 new cases; No countries recorded new daily highs; those in blue for the second consecutive day and those in red for a third or more consecutive day.

I remember years ago when they were cracking down on bikie gangs. Our family was on our way to the beach, and came across a roadblock on the highway, where I was interrogated on our movements & exactly why were heading to the beach, & what we were going to do there. I'm not kidding. I told him what the hell any of that info has to do with him? Wtf!! His response was to get me out of the car, completely empty my families belongings on the road so he could check if my spare tyre was legal. Then I had to pop the bonnet, where he put his 150kg body weight onto the battery clamp & violently shook it until it came loose & threatened to defect the car. Until his mate came over to see what was going on, he calmed down & "let me off".... If you think the powers that be have your best interests at heart, and you enjoy being spanked by them, then good luck... I hope others aren't as stupid |

The graphs for today are the two sets of forward modelling - the USA and Australia.
The US case model now shows the trend dropping slightly below the upper limit but that probably leaves them heading toward 8.5-9M cases by mid November. The US mortality model now shows the trend only slightly above the lower limit but that probably leaves them heading toward 240k cases by mid November. The Australian case model now shows the trend dropping below the upper limit but it needs to drop more sharply if we aren't to have 30k cases by the end of November. The Australian mortality model now shows the trend well above the upper limit but at least it is following that line now rather than climbing away from it. Hopefully, now that case numbers are diminishing that line will head back down below the upper limit otherwise we are looking at adding another 5-600 deaths. I didn't post the Vic weekly numbers yesterday but case numbers were down 41% to 366 while deaths were down by 2/3rds to 55 after rising each of the last nine weeks.

This whole situation in VIC is primarily on the Gov's shoulders. For those who say "It is not the Gov's fault, it was the people who didn't comply"..........The same Gov that is dodging any responsibility is the same one who brought in industrial manslaughter laws. This premise that people in charge have culpability is correct. So why does this not apply to the Vic Gov (Premier and Health minister), the chief health officer who told us masks were a waste of time (a lie that has caused deaths) the Federal aged care minister (just in case you thought this rant was party based). They all should be treated like Directors and Senior Managers would if this happened in private enterprise. They can never say, "I didn't train the workers very well and then they did stupid things". Workcover would be so far up them....but for some reason it doesn't work this way. I went from being angry with protesters to now starting to feel aligned somewhat, which I don't like because what they say when they open their mouths is just ludicrous conspiracy rubbish.

For the last time, this thread is about COVID.
Anymore off-topic posts that have nothing to do with COVID will be deleted and warnings handed out. Sorry to be harsh, but some of you are simply just not listening. |

SA might open up to NSW and ACT tomorrow. I guess it all depends on what they think of how NSW is going. IMO If NSW were such an issue then we would have heaps more than what we have. People coming and going all the time.

I hope it does come soon, should be a great bump for the economy of SA through visitors and possibly property acquisition from out-of-state.

Well hopefully all sides do well out of it. Not a done deal but for me it is not wise to announce these sorts of things if they are not likely because it just gets people hopeful just to be let down. Here is hoping it is good news.
