Street Machine is playing with an L67 in a VN at the moment and you can see how much of a hair dryer that supercharger is. That's why it was so lame in comparison, I feel if the L67 was turbocharged like the older Buick 3.8L In the 1980s in the Grand National GNX it would have been a monster and ahead of the pack. |

If it was advertised and marketed right such would of took off well, great racing with out going overboard like F1 ? Like who can get to race something like that, such as F1 etc would be a death trap to most people I would believe. But one of the v6 things would be f ^$#& # wild ! Not to mention I was thinking of getting a small type of racing cart with a 650cc 6sp Husaberg engine in it's tale with a but of suspension, not to mention lights! well that was one night on the grog with a mate, such a thing would come out on the streets for sure at night how would the cops catch that. |

Only the only SS V6 supercharged was the VT SS. And yes a S is not up to the SS spec level. The S Commodore is like the S Falcon. The SS Commodore is like the XR8 |

On the way home from work this afternoon I saw an early 1980s Datsun Bluebird sedan with original plates.

bit harsh on the poor VT SS 304, was a good base engine with the roller cam.. the gen3 was on another level when they came out.. so was their oil level

The VT SS with the Supercharged 3.8 V6 was utterly pointless.

It appears like false economy going for SUVs that seem to be higher priced with more kms relative to cars. Here's an example of 2002 4cyl Camry with 148Kms for $3800.

I remember when the BA wasnt far off, HSV said they had something in-store for the XU6 which will give the new Falcon six a run for its money.
Once the power figures of the barra was released, the XU6 quietly disappeared.

Wouldnt it have been locally assembled? Ford australia certainly locally assembled galaxies, just not sure what year they stopped. I think it was around the time the fairlane was introduced in 67?

Getting fuel this morning ... at another bowser there was a green XR Fairmont wagon, B/W Vic plates then the next car at that bowser was an orange XB Fairmont hardtop, club plates. Then a gen. 1 RX7 just down the road.
Also: someone has a couple of Suzuki Jimnys or Sierras sitting in the front yard; one is just a chassis on wheels, the other looks complete; been there in the front yard a week or so now. Last edited by xkxlxm; 14-02-2022 at 10:29 AM. |

The Galaxies would have been CKD from Canada as it would be less duty coming from a Commonwealth country.

I don't think many got see one of these back in the day, but I spotted a Volvo P1800 on my morning walk today.
What a petite and pretty thing the P1800 is, above modeled with Rodger Moore as Simon Templar the Saint.

Used to sometimes see an old bloke in a mint vp commodore executive 5L. Then one day i seen it and the passengers side was messed up. A bit of a shame really.
Yesterday i saw another im guessing original owner in a mint vn executive. This was a 6, but still, not a rare car, but in proper good condition they are kind of these days as nobody really cared about them when new as they were the basic model, then the P platers got them cheaper then the power poles they knocked down. |

So the 1969 LTD Galaxie were imported from the USA and converted here in VIC Truck Plant, but the 1969 model only came on sale from Feb 1970 and then the 1970 one came on sale 8/1970 and 1971 on sale 6/1971 and 1972 model on sale 7/1972 The 1964 Galaxie was a full import came on sale here 4/1964 and then we made our first 1965 model CKD in Dec 1964 but they came on sale 3/1965 here. as were all Galaxies to 1968 model CKD. So that 1964 I seen was a full imported beast that sold through Ford Australia dealerships. There were some fully imported RHD Galaxies from 1965 to 1975 through ONLY some dealerships but they were convertibles and 2 door Hardtops and wagons, would of cost a bit that way back in the days and the models came out earlier than what we got our year models on sale here. So them could of came out in Jan here. and our CKD came out in the later months of the year. |

I seen a 1964 4 door Pillar less Pontiac on Skippy the bush Kangaroo a black one, looked great. must be rare as hens teeth here, or full imported and RHD it was. Could not see if it was a 283 V8. Our Ford Galaxies were only made here in sedan, but the 1971 and 72 got 4 door pillared Hardtop, that means a thin pillar but no stupid ugly door window panels that the lower spec sedans and wagons got in the USA. But we did not get the 4 door pillar less sedan here but top end USA could. So the 1971-2 door window is just window, put the window down and nothing is above the door window. class ! |
