Another beer to add to my avoid list, the dominance of the supermarket chain over the retail sector is quite concerning.

I rather like the Sail and Anchor, not a bad pub. Some nice beers too. Well worth going if your over here on holidays.

Australian micro-breweries also make some bloody great stuff.
Somebody posted about Mountain Goat in a previous post - their stuff is very good.

I am not sure where you are located though...

But for the money, there are far superior drops out there than Crown Lager.

Experimentation is costly, but is worth the ride and you'll come out with a far broader taste.

been drinking Miller chill, lime infused beer.

good hot weather drinking beer, not quite full strength but doesnt leave you bloated or bogged down like draught or similar.

but cant go past the old favourite of carlton draught

Carlton cold have been going down a treat. Actually tried the "Carlton dry fusion black" and think I might buy a couple cartons of that next time..
I should also ad that I didn't mind "bluetongue" either..
Also tooheys old on tap when I go to the pub.. I don't enjoy it as much out of stubbies

I'd have to say that the James Squire Sundown Lager is awesome the after taste is perfect and stays with you for as long as 30seconds after a swig and unlike other beers where u gotta down em before they get too warm this doozy you can take ur time to drink and if you haven't tried a james squire beer before i also highly insist on the chancer as well

The Chancer was not to my liking as I found it had a murky flavour that just tasted watery.

Who's tried Beez Neez? Love the damn stuff. Honey flavoured beer. Perfect kick to what at first seems like a normal beer, but keeps you wanting more once you get a small taste of it. Wish I had've known about it sooner.

As for my run of the mill beer, I can't go past Toohey's Extra Dry.

Also tried India Pale Ale. Worst. Beer. Ever. I still gag at the thought of having tried it. If you want curry puff and horrible perfume smell/taste stuck in your mouth, combined with beer, this is it. Keep away unless you don't want your taste buds to stay intact.

Agreed entirely!

Crownies taste flat to the point that there's no real substance to it anyway, IMO.

IPAs are normally brilliant. Epic and Sierra Nevada do great IPAs. The smell is the hops - extremely hoppy and bitter but brilliant!

India Pale Ale is a style - not a brand. It may have been a James Squire IPA? They have an elephant on their label I think...

Tried "MOA" Pale Ale from NZ. For a pale ale, very hoppy and pretty good.

I had a Schneider-Weisse Tap 5 a few nights ago. Bloody awesome. Pineapple characters with slight hop finish. Highly recommended!

Pilsener Urquell has been first so I bought a six pack from the bottle-o and thought I would try one stubby/one tallie at the 3-4-5-6-7-8 week. Up to week 4 atm and I am very impressed at how close to the original taste I have achieved

My brewing technique has been modified to do 2 brews at once with ex-printers ink 60 litre plastic fermenters so I`m getting 60 x 750ml bottles for around $42 which (to me anyway) is not worth crap unless it tastes great.

not sure if this beer's been posted but "Little Creatures Pale Ale" is very nice hard to explain the taste it starts off honeyish then goes more fruity but be warned this beer is fairly carbonated compared to others and you need to slowly (read snails pace) turn it upside down x3 times before opening.

Had a Mountain Goat 'Rare Breed' Coffee IPA on the weekend. Bloody great stuff. Very hoppy.......... smells like a bud....... and I don't mean weiser!

I have mentioned Little Creatures Pale Ale many times. One of the best Australian beers hands-down.
At work for Christmas, we have a choice of a slab, wine, bubbly or a bottle of spirits...

I was the ONLY person that got an ale - Little Creatures Pale.

Most common choices were Corona or Crown Lager...very sad.

I prefer the little creatures bright ale myself. Bit off topic, but has anyone eaten there? Bit pricey, but damn their chips and aioli is awesome.

I have, a few years ago now.

It' a fantastic spot on the water, and the open brewery, with the continuous tours are pretty good as well. I was really into Pilsner at that stage, so I was only drinking that there. I've had the LCPA a few times, but still rate Coopers ahead of it, if only because Coopers is a more prevalent drop in NSW.

Agreed, I'm loving Little Creature Pale Ale atm. Haven't tried Matilda Bay's Fat Yak, that's next on my list.

I must put in my 2 cents worth. As a Homebrewer, I turn out, what has become a very popular 'Chilli Beer'. Basic recipe is a Coopers Lager kit, with between 8 to 12 of the little red chillies, which are pitched in with the wort - (after boiling the chillies to sterilise). I can't make enough of the stuff for friends.
The aim is for a beer taste, with the warmth of the chilli, felt, rather than tasted. Note too, that as the bottled beer matures, it becomes drier and 'hotter'. So if you want to go down this path, start with the 8, and after a few months maturing, the results are still pleasant. The 12 can be a beast after a few months, ala Mr Cash.
From the shop, 'Alpha Ale' from the (kinda, but no more) Matilda Bay line is a great hoppy, bitter.
Coopers Pale Ale on tap is fantastic (memories in this one, ahh, the days..)
Emu Bitter, is still a great beer, even though it is now down to 4% alc, just means I can drink more, hops are still good.

Spent some time over in NZ for 2 weeks and had a few good NZ beers on tap at the Fork and Brewer. Really like the Tuatara Porter

Also visited the Speights Brewary.
