General Dynamics also sold/ split certain parts of the company. Lockheed Martin took over some of their aircraft production.
Great close ups of the pig though!

Several years ago at Townsville they were returning to Amberley.
It was a late afternoon take off just as the sun was setting and they took off one by one and held it down low to the runway after the wheels went up. At the opposite threshold (over Ingham rd) they went vertical to at least 5000ft (im a good judge of height, pilots eyes lol). Very impressive to say the least! The few times i got to get near one it was always an impressive plane to wander around. Any idea whats gonna happen to those cockpits which are used for training? We had one at work which was mounted in a frame with wheels.

The one on wheels is ex-USAF FB111A 68-0246
Where's work Jim Goose? Would have been an impressive display at TVE. The are removing a few crew modules for display at the Amberley Heritage Centre and other locations. The crew module from the Kelly/Curr A8-137 ejection in NZ will be displayed at Amberley as well I believe.

you mean this one?
was used as part of an exersize in 2009 i think it was. Aircraft had "crashed" and enemy forces were in the area while the "home" team had to rescue them. Pity we never get to go play up in the hills....

Shame the recon pallet was destroyed in that one. Something extra cool about those RF's.
I now see you meant the crew module you posted above, but yes, I also mean that one.

From the Paris airshow, China has received orders for it's new jet.
Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce a new plane from the world reknowned leaders in reverse engineering and dubious quality. From the makers of the Great Wall and Cheri cars that achieved zero stars in the Eurocap tests, I give you the Comac 919 (seriously Boeing, don't sue because there's no similarity with your model numbers of 717, 727, 737, 747, 757, 767, 777, 787). Tipped to struggle with FAA approval, the 919 is set to succeed in giving us all numerous NEW episodes of Air Crash Investigations.

Remind me never to fly in china in the coming years lol. Although you never know. Cars is one thing, aircraft are another. I am reminded of an epsiode of come fly with me. "this seat, Life jacket, this seat, life jacket, this seat, life jacket, this seat, life jacket coming soon. After plane crash in sea and is filling with water, you just simply reach under seat and purchase life jacket. Would you like to purchase life jacket? Would you like priority disembarkaction, purchase whistle? yes. Life jacket is now mine for 20mins, after 20mins life jacket automatically deflates and you swim back into plane and purchase more" Last edited by Spudz27; 27-06-2011 at 10:54 PM. |

Tiger Airways has it's air operators certificate suspended for 5 days. How dodgy are they?

The same skit came to mind when reading about them earlier today lol. I flew tiger once from PER to MEL, the flight was o.k but they allowed drunk passengers on, one in particular a sleazy middle aged man who sat right behind us. My very shy partner asked if she could slap him and I wanted to jump over and knock him out. I had also had 5 jacks and cokes in 30mins just 1hr before our flight, although I still know how to control myself, but I managed to nod off until over esperance, when I woke my partner was so enraged by the male behind us she vowed never would we fly them again. Now also the decent into MEL was very fast indeed and as we were nearing the runway I was positive we were travelling way too fast.
On the plus they were cheap. PER - MEL return was $398 for the two of us. |

Spudz, that guy should gave been left at the gate! If people want to drink a bit that's fair enough, but when they cross the line of being rowdy onboard, that's game over.
F6, it's a real smack in the face for them to be grounded due to a number of repeat safety offences....a function of their training, procedures and experience, so CASA has shut then down before something bad happens....and until they can prove they should be worthy of getting it back. This has been an ongoing saga for them and that was the last straw. Similar to Garuda being banned from flying to the US by the FAA and I still think to Europe. |

On Saturday 2nd July we went to the RAF Waddington Air show in Lincolnshire UK.
It was a fantastic day and the displays were awesome. The Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane fly by was spectacular. Sorry about the quality of some of the pics but I only took the clickomatic and not the SLR. Enjoy. Wayne |

Nice Air show pics mate, I was there (Waddington) in 2003 and loved seeing the Lancaster with the Spitfire and I think the Hurricane off each wing..
Also went to RIAT at Farnsborough. Love the choppers (Lynx/Puma???) that does the backflip.. Some very good history of planes over there hey!!! Good stuff!!

That's sad for all of us and such a magnificent plane, and who would not envy someone who's 21 and brought that thing down so magnificently. You think you can drive? THAT"S DRIVING. I feel nothing but sadness now that those magnificent beasts have been removed from our skies. Pity we didn't get YF 22s to replace the airspace

I don't think there's a more beautiful sound in the world than that of a Merlin at full revs. Even better with two of them in harmonics. Sounds like freedom in the morning. Sorry all you Cleveland people.
