Those are both the Fusion, from different angles. The headlight of the FH/FU/201X/whatever has a step on the bottom bit. Check out the teaser photos from the media day.

I'm quite happy to bet that the XT will be in the line up.

Umm no. Leave them alone. Especially the XR and high series.

we stopped buying falcons at work because of the XR6 badge. the bean counters think it looks bad if staff buy sports cars. as if a XR6 was a sportz car. don't think anyone been targeted to buy a falcon. the adds I got today show a high spec falcon in long distance drive mode..and countless KUGA adds for titanium,so I get VW confusion, that parks its self because its so short wheel base with boot space that you cant see out the rear.

In late 09 it almost seemed that the XT was too exy compared to the XR6 .... V odd situation.

Futura then G6 futura is a luxury car--its obvious. not suitable for middle management. G6 why would you buy a car with a silly name. P76 targa florio maybe. problem with companies like ford is they price match or price band a product. instead of replacing my bosses R6 ute with a XR6 they bough a top of the line Isuzu D-max 4X4. instead of the workshop falcon ute the bought a 4x4 3.2 ranger.. add in the resale price, running cost price isn't an issue.

They just changed to G6, why even... fact is, 2016 is end game. And I've had a feeling, the current FPVs and previous will coles drop and many, not all, will scratch their noggins when the choice of muzzy v falc GT happens.

The only name change I'd be in favour of is bringing back the Fairmont name plate to replace the G-series, i.e. G6 - Fairmont; G6E - Fairmont Titanium; G6ET - Fairmont Titanium X.

Go to Ford.com, select 'myFord Emagazine' under the 'Ownership' column and blend the Fusion/Taurus articles/photos and there's the 2014 Falcon.
Prove me wrong. |

No, because the next Falcon will still have doors carried over from the FG.

I think it is more likely that it will have a Fusion/Mondeo nose and tail. But the doors will definitely be FG.

I'm intrigued to know why it's taking so long to release seeing there can't surely be major mechanical improvements for a car they are intending to scrap....ouch!

They do it so far away hoping falcon sales drop so they can shut early, but seems to be backfiring as sales are increasing.
I just hot a FG2 turbo, and the XR6 is by far the best car I have ever owned, wish I bought it years ago!

This update was only announced in 2011 and not until government funds were secured. The work involved implementing the Gen II ZF transmission as well as the efficiency targets they are chasing takes time, it's not plug and play like some people think. They are at the thin edge of the wedge, doing all the R&D and testing so the end product IS plug and play.

So you'd prefer the 2014 Falcon to be released with no change? They won't be releasing it next year and closing the factory doors the next day, they have two years to recoup costs.
Better to give the Falcon a proper send off or release early with big risk of more issues?

The funding ford the 2014 was in place before the closure announcement, and the government has put forward money to help it, so Ford are keeping their end of the deal.
