I highly doubt it.
Look at EA>EB>ED. Bugger all in looks changes and a new designation. Same with the A series. Id be very surprised if it got that name its just confusing..like a X pack or something.

I think not having red would be pretty odd on a sports model. Considering they'll probably have red on base models for the fire department vehicles anyway.

if it is true, it's a bizarre name choice and goes against any other before it. Also:

FGX is definitely a stupid idea and unnecessarily confusing for future parts replacement etc.

Yeah not a fan of the XR rear end, it doesn't seem to match the front ends aggressiveness.
Looks fine on the G6 etc (although it needs a nice chrome tip on the exhaust), not the XR... FGX, no one called that I don't think... I guess this really is an FGmkIII??

I don't understand how people can say the rear doesn't look good. Every car, particularly cars under 50grand, have fairly average looking rears in which are overshadowed by the front. I think they have done a really nice job.

do we have to go over this again?
because people have differing opinions - end of story if people think they've done a great job, fantastic, and for those that don't, marvelous too.

I reckon the car looks fantastic from the front and rear.
That naming convention though, FG X.......really? I don't think out of the 248 pages of this thread, have I ever seen someone go "They should name it the FG X! That's a fantastic name, suitable for the next model." |

I thought the BA/BF rear end was fantastic the first time I saw it.
I thought the FG FPV rear ends were fantastic the first time I saw it. The standard FG rear inserts annoy the hell out of me with those little rectangle sections that are impossible to clean! I like parts of the FGX rear end, lower insert is a huge step up. But the spoiler is not to my taste nor are the narrow lights. All purely personal opinion and I'd still buy one if I was in the market, it's a dam site nicer than the VF.

Perhaps ford dont feel they have done enough to steer away from FG badge but at the same time didn't want to call it a MKIII?
I dont mind it to be honest.

Hey,
It isn't really a 'naming convention' if it exists for one model. It's not like there'll ever be an FG XII or anything considering ford's going to purge falcon from their lineup. |

Never really thought about it but interesting to find out the FG paid hommage to Fairmont and Ghia nameplates which were retired after BA/BF Series. Also for the final model the X will pay hommage to all the great X series nameplates that came before it. Nice :-)

I really like that rear end (the XR6 especially, very clean and modern), but I'm not digging that model code at all.
Not only does FGX remind you that it's essentially a touched up FG, but having 3 characters goes against all Falcon tradition. It's always been 2 letters, from XK to EA to AU to BA to FG. Hell, it goes against virtually all tradition of Australia model codes - Falcon, Holden, and Valiant (from VC onwards, anyway - I guess the AP5 & AP6 spoil my theory!). Having 3 letters just looks clunky, IMO.

Agreed, Professor - FZ would have been far more fitting.
