Great old photos Bridgette....... not to mention I think i see the little fokker in the background!!

edit: have to add... I flew in a Ansett DC-9 in 1976! and rememebered walking out of the rear airstairs. The smell of the exhaust was over powering and made my eyes sting! Not to mention the stairs itself seemed very greasy.... these sorts of things stick in childs mind! lol

Well, it's officially over now. Sad to see them buried! I think I would have preferred them to be turned into Hyundais.

Trouble is the metal used in most aircraft structures isnt recycleable.

Quote:
The F-111 SOP includes extending existing capabilities through applied research to address
particular F-111 ASI issues associated with its special materials such as D6ac steel, 7079
T651 aluminium alloy and bonded aluminium honeycomb panels.
Quote:
Bonded Panels
Bonded panels comprise most of the internal and external panel structure of the fuselage as
well as the horizontal stabilators and other control surfaces. They consist of inner and outer
aluminium alloy skins with aluminium honeycomb bonded between them. The panels suffer
from corrosion and disbonding, largely due to moisture ingress.
So unfortunately... cant do much with it, other then bury them, which is really odd as most bone yards shred old aircraft into small pieces then bury them!

Ok, so my lateset F111 model arrived on Friday.

This is A8-125, first and last F111 to land on Australian soil.

This is in the exact configuration that it flew in on the 3rd of December 2010, right down to having the Kloedon and Gray squadron monikers underneath the canopy windows.

As usual, the detail is excellent.

The current fleet - 2 x C's and 1 x G

Ask him what Micka was doing with the pave tack out as well. Is he still with 6 Squadron? Probably not if you work with him.

It sure is. I always hate seeing planes disgarded like this. 23 of them. Surely they could have found a better home for every single one for them.

I went to Warbirds Downunder at Temora 3 weeks ago. it would have to have been one of the best airshows I have been to.

they had an awesome line up of planes including the Spitfire, 2 Kittyhawks, a Mustang, the Sabre, the Meteor, the Hudson, a Hawker Sea Fury, The Super Constellation, the RAAF Roulettes, 2 75 Squadron F/A-18C Hornets and countless others, I have never seen a Hornet in action soo close up before and I have to say it was jaw dropping.

and here's some of my videos

the P-40 taking off the night before the airshow
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrOZyVl98**

a DC-3 Dakota arriving from Essendon for the Airshow
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlxGr...eature=related

the 75 Squadron Formation break
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UM_Qh...eature=related

the F/A-18C in Action
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FncHK...eature=related

This video is not mine but it gives an awesome HD overview of the whole show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KosYvqv1WY

enjoy!!!

Uncanny - I was only talking to a guy at work this morning about the two flying spitfires based at Temora. I was on the web page for the museum checking out the flying dates and then I come on here and find your photos. Guess I'm going to have to visit Temora - it might be my only chance to see a Spitfire in the air.

Great photos by the way.

Temora's great, the caravan park is about 150m form the hanger/museum & 20m from the local GA hanger.
Town is terrifically supportive of the Air Shows/Museum.....
Get on the mail out if you want to attend a show, you get advance notice.

Aus Army received last of its order of ARH Tigers last Fri, 02 Dec. Aus aviation mag has an article on it.

Very nice piece of kit. Hopefully keeps developing and we see it used over seas.

Yes something like that, it's the DB30 (Derrick Barge) construction barge. If you require the installation of sub-surface structures, sub-surface pipelines, platform installations or small island relocations, give em a call......

We get up to 10 choppers on a busy day.....
