The secrecy was the very reason it was so polarising. No one knew anything about it except for the faceless bureaucrats doing the wheeling and dealing.

That's deplorable.. and the person responsible has acknowledged the error and apologised.

However it isn't just the left that does this. The right is just as bad.

Clinton's daughter copped a pasting from memory.

We do it in Australia too....

You talk about the cult of celebrity but then make repeated posts fawning over Trump.

It's getting kind of awkward to watch.

See this is to me one of the most interesting aspects of this whole Trump situation. The TPP was widely condemned by the left, and I believe rightly so. One of the biggest issues with it was the ISDS inclusions, which allowed corporations to sue countries if their government makes a decision that negatively impacts their profits.

Read about it here but it's a bit dry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invest...ute_settlement

It's utterly insane. I think Australia is fighting Phillip Morris right now because of their decision to introduce plain packaging. It's not under the TPP obviously, but under another free trade deal with Hong Kong which has opened the door for that division of Phillip Morris to sue the Australian Government for harming their profits because they made a decision based on health impacts of our population. The TPP was going to open the door for those kinds of cases between all the signature countries, with US companies standing to benefit the most. Whether the country being sued wins the case or not doesn't help the fact that they'll be out of pocket millions of dollars to mount the fight. El Salvador just won a case against a mining company they didn't grant a license to on environmental grounds- to "win" it took 7 years of court hearings and $12 million...

Our government want in because they're a pack of neo-liberal $%^#@##$ - nothing should stand in the way of the free market - but for it to be Trump to actually put an end to it is very interesting. Now all I hear on the news is how questionable it is for the deal to fall through, how harmfull it'll be for Australia. It's a win for the left but they're remaining strangely quiet...

I'm not a Trump supporter, in fact I'm getting more nervous about this little experiment day by day, but good riddance to the TPP! Definitely chalk up a point to team Trump on that one.

She apologised after the backlash for that comment. One year ago she may have gotten away with it. In the past few months folk have cottoned on to the absolute BS lies and slander directed towards trump in the past twelve months, which slotted into overdrive when he went from a **** take to a serious threat for presidency. This stupid ***** along with all the other childish liberals are still in denial, and still oblivious as to how people have seen through their BS. I'm still seeing at least two anti trump articles or opinion pieces on my local rags website, daily!

Note how she linked a negative white male stereotype (mass shooter), to trumps ten year old son.
Can you imagine the back lash if a journo implied one of Obamas daughters will end up as a single mother crack whore on the street of Detroit.
the difference is, is that negative stereotypes are only acceptable if the are aimed at straight white men.

The 'right' don't throw their toys out of the cot when faced with insults or some home truths. A prime example of the liberal anti trump hypocrisy was over the weekend when this beta male ***** stoves a female reporter in the face, while they're marching for women's rights! Again, further proof liberalism is a mental illness.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=S1eb9vQ1vAk

Along with four black men beating a disabled white man for supporting Trump, and many other cases, don't expect this to feature on mainstream media.

If all this negative, false and hate inspiring media campaigns keep getting worse, the first amendment is under threat.
The liberal left cannot be allowed to incite hate crimes and or terrorism, which they are already beginning to do.

This reminds me ( and those old enough to remember ), of a great 1970's Queensland Premier, Sir Jo Bjelke Peterson.

When he called a news conference ( with only a few lefty journalists then ), he stated that he was "Feeding the chooks".

He used this term often for the media !

A'h, when Australia was governed well.

Trump really did not have to do a lot to kill the TPP. The legislation would have to be passed by Congress and that was not likely to happen anyway. It was dead from the start really.

After the muppet Barnaby Joyce's comments on housing affordability today it won't be out of the ordinary for One Nation to win parliament next election. So very out of touch. Exactly the reason why Trump now is pretty much God of the world right now.

I remember one comment that sums it up. "Yeah and maybe we can use Bronny's helicopter to get to work"

And yet none of these celebrities have put their money where their mouth is, if they are so concerned with America and the issues that they lecture us all about why don't they risk it all and enter politics like Donald Trump has?

I think we both know that they won't....

It sure is getting awkward to watch celebrities preaching to us all from their ivory towers...

It's pretty amusing though, considering the XR8 next year will be reborn with the same spec engine as the FG GT, could you imagine being a HSV owner forking out all that money on a brand new GTS, then pulling up to the lights next to a FH XR8 and then sitting side by side all the way to 100 and beyond
Even more embarrasing would be the lower spec variants of the VF in HSV's stable getting whopped by a factory XR8.
