Maybe if they wait long enough, all the petrol Ranger Raptors can be built in America

You know the ones that look like this on your 40 year old 6x4 trailer:

Look out for me on the December 2023 DCOA compilation where I'll be upside down on the nearest roundabout.

Seriously though I think its a bit of a compromise between load carrying capacity, rear leaf spring suspension, unloaded ute and road manners on the Thailand specials which creates some problems, thats why you see them backwards in roundabouts every month on DCOA compilations and not at high speeds either.

Maybe one day someone will make a half decent HT 4x4 tyre, like the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 for heavier vehicles that can help sort out some sketchy handling characteristics of Thailand Specials.
Your reply is to one about Ranger Raptor, that has coil springs ( not leaf springs ).

They expect to get their dealer/demo Rangers in July. Customers in August.
I’ll be off to speak to my local dealer about a V6 XLT/Sport later this week, Be interesting to see what the wait time is for the more mainstream models.

High grip tyres are the last thing you want in a vehicle with a high centre of gravity. Raptor is fine, because of the wide tyres, wide stance and adaptive suspension, but in vehicles like the Triton with narrow track grippy tyres are a rollover waiting to happen.

If anything, they engineer the tyres to have lower grip because you want it to slide in extreme maneuvers, cause then you have the dsc to catch it and the driver has options to counter steer out. If the tyre grips hard in that situation you have no options cause it will probably roll over. It's the safer option believe it or not. Argue all you want about this, and i'm sure someone will want to, but it's what they do. It's the safer option.

Triton is a smaller ute 75mm shorter 45mm narrower wheelbase is 220mm shorter ( that's why it has best in class turning circle ) it's also 68mm lower than a ranger wildtrack according to carsguide review on 2018 models , it's lower than it is narrower so I don't see how it can have a high centre of gravity :

Got my price today from Range Ford in Perth. $94200 drive away, including just the premium paint option.

Probably second batch, unless enough of the first pull out, so hopefully an August/September delivery!

Signed a purchase contract today, it's all a bit more official now.

Dealer will have 3 demos at end of May and my Ranger will arrive in June.

All moose of the world unite and lobby for more Rangers to be sold so they can ensure their own improved chance of survival.

Your vid reminds me of the time a dealer loaned me a Mitsu Express van when I was servicing our T4 VW Transporter...omfg...it was like driving a skakeboard with cross winds making my lane changes for me...

Quoted $92,500 here is Vic

What do you think the chances are of negotiating anything at all of this price? The sales guy told me on the phone that there is no chance. What are your thoughts?

What does some random foreign test have to do with the physical dimensions?

it was something a Canadian (I think) mob did to test the stability of twin cab utes - nothing to do with the new Ranger as it is a totally different car

My Ranger contract is full retail list price plus standard WA on road costs with a $2500 dealer delivery - no chance of a discount, I tried.

I did manage to get rear carpet mats and a full set of moulded rubber mats included and it will come with a full tank. All up this is about $500 worth at full retail.

We purchased another new car for the wife 2 months ago and it was the same. No discount whatsoever. Managed to get about $400 worth of accessories included. 3 days after we signed up the manufacturer lifted the list price by $1050 on the specific model we ordered.

Any Queenslanders got a D/a price on a V6D Wiltrack with Premium Pack and Paint? My dealer is giving me the run around, but has verbally said that "due to demand" I am looking at low $80k's D/a. Surely they are taking the p*&& at that sort of price? I'm the 4th person in line at this dealer so in the initial allocation for delivery...

I was expecting in the $75 - 78k range for my spec.. Another $4/5k seems like price gouging....

Seems very smelly.
Wildtrack : $70,190 (list)
Premium pack: $1,500
Paint: $675
ORC: say $3,500
Total: $75,865
+ dealer delivery cost (ddc)

If they are quoting low $80k's, there's no way I'd be paying another say $5000 to $7000 which can only be charged as a dealer delivery fee, I'd let the other suckers go first....

As mentioned above I can understand no discounting initially and say $2,500 ddc, so as you said around $78k d/a seems fair.

We’re going like America where dealers smell money, desirable Fords in restricted supply,
it’s becoming pay our price or ten others next in line will.

That random test in another country showed the difference exactly……

At first I couldn’t believe the difference myself but that extra track width can make
a huge difference when swerving and let’s not kid ourselves, a lot of those SUVs are
pretty ordinary performers in an emergency.
