The A-pillar issue isn't so much about having to move your head.
Dad used to have a VE Calas-V, and it was more about blocking out peripheral vision. i.e when you're looking where your driving, it just obscures objects to the side more-so than most other cars. I liked how the car drove, but it's something that definitely stood out and bugged me. I however do agree that it would not be a simple fix for a model update.

I have done a combined ~200,000km in various VE's and the A pillar has NEVER been an issue to me whatsoever. It's one of those things that people whinge about for the sake of whinging.... Same as the VE handbrake - people constantly complain about it, but when you are driving it integrates into the console like it's not even there - again, no issue.

Its not just the looks. The main issue with the handbrake is you can get your finger caught in the front of it. Not really a smart design.

Even a EA umbrella handle handbrake felt more solid then a VE handbrake.

If a person using a VE handbrake gets their finger caught, its through their own negligence. If it is used properly then there is no issue. |

I'd read this before and I had to contort my hand in such a way that it was completely unnatural to get my finger caught in it - and it's not like it then jams shut on you making it impossible to release. The sorts of people that would get their hand stuck in a VE handbrake I suspect also are incapable of closing a door without losing an elbow.

I've done about 200,000 KM's in a series of VE SSV's. I also regularly drive other cars and trucks, so I think I'm qualified to say, a VE commodore is a car that's relatively difficult to see out of.
The VE has, thick A pillars, a very high waistline which rises towards the back, ( kids hate the cocoon that creates) it has relatively small exterior mirrors and the SSV has big wing that makes rear vision through the internal mirror also ordinary. It all combines to make the car harder to drive and park. Not impossible, tens of thousands of people drive them every day. But no where near as user friendly as an FG. That said, thick pillars and high sided design is a consequence of having to pass the US side impact from a pickup truck test. So it was deliberate to ensure they were able to export it to the USA should they be able to secure the export sales. Camry / Aurion suffers the same fate as I'm sure the 2017 global falcon what ever form that takes.

YUK, it does look like an epica from the front which means epic fail. Very cheap looking, not an improvement over the VE just different.

Well that's quite butt ugly even against a base VE :p. They should have left the rear diffuser and big alloys on the base model imho.

It was always going to be the case that the base model would look ordinary and going by these pics it does.

So it wasn't just me that googled epica when I saw the base model.
This car just keeps getting worse and worse.

Oh dear ..... Epica revisited for sure! Not good :(
Has to succeed for the good of all car manufacturing in Aus and to give some confidence back to the large car segment. They got it wrong!

I thought the VF was good looking when it was launched.
I was wrong after looking at these pics.

Looks like it belongs on a late night TV show about botched plastic surgery.
The original VE Omega with plastic wheel trims and unpainted door handles looked better.
