I would reckon most of the asian dentists are as well trained as any Aussie dentist.Really dentistry is the least technical of all the medical professions.Doesn,t stop them charging like there is no tomorrow though.

Perhaps you might like the Aldi brand. My wife likes certain flavour/cooking/ingredients and she rates the Grana Padano very highly. It's grated fine but they have another Parmesan available as well. My late father used to tell a joke about a diagnosis a bloke got from the Doctor called kraft disease. Kant Remember A F**kin Thing.

Because Kraft sold it's Australian operation some time ago and the products still being produced at the same facilities have been rebranded. Hence why Vegemite no longer has the Kraft logo, singles cheese are called Dairy Lea, cream cheese spread is labelled as Bega etc.

When arnotts stopped the classic shapes for the new arnotts shapes( before they bought back the classics) my brother in law put in a complaint. Arnotts offered to send him a few boxes of new shapes. Needless to say, he declined.

I would bet the farm that they use a standard base for 95% off their range these days to remain profitable. There is a generic taste to much of the range where they used to be unique in flavour to each other.

Why is it that chemists spend 95 per cent of their time typing on their workstation and only 5 per cent actually getting the medication out of the cabinet?

I use that too, great bang for buck.

The Kraft brand I use mainly as a seasoning for meatballs/rissoles and slapped it in the breadcrumb mix for chicken schnitzels.

I tried the Black n Gold brand and it went straight into the bin - tasted like powdered milk with vinegar.

They are sh*t scared of getting a malpractice lawsuit against them if they get the label instructions wrong.

You have reminded me of another issue that gives me the screaming sh*ts. There used to be many choices of local, imported products plus a cheap brand which has been replaced by coles own/woolworths own in nearly every food group. Where is the support for Australian businesses with this model? The average joe believes supermarkets are 'big friendly' local businesses that support our economy. This is a fallacy, as they buy the cheapest, poorest quality fruit, veg & meat then charge the biggest prices possible. They have swallowed up so many smaller competitors & not only that, both supermarkets own hundreds of Hotels in our major cities. Not just any Hotels, they choose the ones that have biggest numbers of slot machines. They want to muscle in on the newsagent business & the pharmacy business. They already have petrol & bunnings, so for any change, its up to us to choose alternatives when we buy these goods. Nothing good comes without competition which is why we must protect smaller business as much as possible.

One reason I mostly shop at IGA, down our way they usually stock good brand names, locally sourced fruit and veg, local meats. I even check the labels to see where it was made based on state.
Kooka biscuits previously mentioned, local company from growing the grain to manufacture to packaging is all down the road in Donald country Victoria.
My olive oil come from Upotipotpon (yes its a real place) up the road.
My Jam comes from Yackandanda 20km up the road, my butter come from Tatura 30km away. Even the meat is Wangaratta and Yarrawonga raised.

I hate Woolworths "the freshly defrosted people"

Hotel bookings wise...that Trivago are a major cartel who own most of the others like hotel combined, what if etc. They are gradually taking over the motel/hotels pricing structure so much so I heard they were banned in places like Germany for trying to control the industry.
Similar to the ship cruising industry with Carnival owning most of the opposition companies... P&O, Cunard, Holland America etc.
This is the way its going, trying to run the little guys out of Dodge.

Why is it that sometimes cheap tools break the mould so to speak and outlast the reputable expensive ones? Typically when it comes to tools for work that arent for a 1 off I do spend for decent gear. Pliers and sidecutters are a staple for what i do and typically 6 months is their lifespan before they either go blunt or i blow them up. Last time i was up for new pliers and snips, i payed the bunnings tax and spent $70 on a 2 pack pliers and snips. Normally for channellocks after trade discounts etc they set me back 50 to 60 each, so that's well above what I paid retail. 18 months later the el cheapo nws pliers and snips are still sharp and going strong. Granted I haven't blown either up, but I have cut down screws and done all the bad things that kill tools but for the life of me I cannot seem to kill them. I cant say the same for screwdrivers though. Cheap ones round off or snap, a decent set for an honest price still wears over time. I got a good price on a set that is way above what I would usually spend, but the seemingly outlandish claims on the box arent false at all. Again it's something I use every day and time will tell, but so far they're apples.

Why is it I can't find a decent potato cake anymore? Years ago potato cakes from fish 'n chip shops were large pieces of potato covered in a thick coating of batter and fried. If you were lucky there would be one which was super thick so the batter could be peeled from the potato. Nowdays potato cakes are thin with little batter resulting in them being hard and crunchy. Or the worst version is where there is no potato or batter, just some potato based mixture which is fired and is homogenous inside and out.

I'm finding that the traditional fish & chip shops are slowly closing down...

We've had three close in the last few months...

You know you are getting old when you tell young people today...

You had to REWIND tapes to hear songs again, and basically just guess when to stop.

My first tape was a Johnny farhnam tape and I get what you are getting at. I'm not even that old, but I had an apprentice come back after a day at tafe copping it because as his tradesman I showed him a 4 and a half inch floppy. It was from an early 90s computer on the demolition site we were working on. And how annoying was it having to press rewind on your Walkman.
