I had an AUII with v8 looked very similar. Although not Herrod “Enhanced”
Mine was an ex Cop car - was a bloody good car!

Yeah does seem a bit steep.. but..
I have built a couple of these back in the early 90's. When you consider the parts build price alone, it's pretty dam reasonable. Plus as a bonus, it's legal, where as back in the day I didn't bother. To much money as hassle. If your old, like me, and a fan of the TC's this is a wet dream. Yeah yeah, I know, it's FPV money for sure, but how many Cortinas do you see at every other set of traffic lights? My guess ta mate on the parts cost break down of the Cortina would look like something like this: Engine $4 - 6K Exhaust system / extractors etc $5k Trans $2 - 4K Suspension bushes sway bars shocks etc $5k Brakes / brake lines $4k - $5k Diff $2k - $3k Tailshaft $500 - $1200 Paint $5k - 10k depending on who did it.. Engineering maybe 5k. Around 63k at my guess. And that's being conservative. With no labour charges, parts only. The Cortina itself, being pretty original as far as door trims, instrument switches, centre console, door trims, grille, chrome trim, brake light lenses etc you'd be paying around 20k+ for just a stock 250 T-bar in that condition. I would like to know: Does it have big valve alloy heads? Electronic dizzy? Does it have an XLE Tacho dash with the 130MPH speedo, and a re-calibrated tacho to suit the V8, as that's what I did to mine.. to keep the stock original theme. Does it have a LSD? I was thinking about my last one.. and I now know where I went wrong.. IE with the handling. I put a 9 inch LSD in it. Big mistake weight wise. It handled far better with a 250 and Borg Warner rear end, compared to a 302 (cast iron heads) and 9 inch LSD with 38mm axles from memory. Sourced out of an F100. Just sayin.. Cheers, One Man
