I used to have one in the late nineties in exactly the same colour and i loved it, it was written off whilst parked at work. Seeing that one brought back so many good memories, but the fact that car is in much better nick today than my car was back then (and it was a very well looked after car) is just so impressive, so much credit to the owner, hope he gets a bucketload of money for it, you just don't see them like that anymore.

Bought this the other day. It was stacked in the mid 90's by its original owner then driven until he died in 97 (like it is). It was then handed to his nephew who kept it shedded until recently, once he lost his spot in the shed if went on the market and I bought it.

Use that XF as a example to point what generally a standard car mothballed will be worth in 30 years time. ie/ FG or VF...

It's a shame this one didn't make it into a barn before being abandoned. I'm told the original 440ci motor was removed and at least it is sitting inside a shed... but it's never going back into the Jensen.
Found in Rockhampton a few weeks ago.

G'day.. The biggest selling Falcon for a single year since 1990 was EF..in 1996 I think it was..either that or 1995..It sold in excess of 91,000 cars. You could be right about the XF being the biggest seller ever..The EF though sold almost 2000 per week actually sold that year only 20 years ago..Ford Falcon sold under 6000 for the whole of 2015. I had a 1996 EF..157 kw..5 speed manual Futura..Gun metal grey.with factory alloys..Only problem in the five years I had it was a dodgy leaking A/C valve that required gas recharges every so often. Once the compressor started not wanting to cut out after a few minutes I knew it needed topping up. The valve was way in behind the dash and was a big job to fix at the time so an $80 recharge three times or so was done.. Otherwise was super nice to drive. I've had an XB ute, XE GL , AU ll (still got it) a BA Fairmont Ghia and now an FGXR6...There were a few years with sales well over 60,000 units..Back before Asian buzz and SUV mania hit the buying public..SO SAD ...dreading October close down..It sucks and if you want to really be gobsmacked go to Wikipedia Type in Ford Falcon Australia .read a ton of info on six generations of our beloved car and then read the "Sales" section..Oh My God the falling out of favour in the past decade especially will astound you as you read it for year by year but to put it into context , the AU 1999-2000 -2001 era averaged , get this , ten times what the FGX does or almost anyway...CRAZY drop in numbers in such a short space in time..Please look.. Cheers Rod..

G'day all..The most sold model of all time was indeed the XF with over 278,000 built quite correctly mentioned below by a fellow forum member..Sorry to confuse that by what I commented on the EF before..So XF was late 1984 to early 1988 just as the EA happened in early 1988..The EF was 1994 to 1996 until the EL took over but they sold 91,000 in one year..Cheers Rod..

Hi all.
Just giving you advance notice of a very special "barn find' clearing sale to be held in Geelong in early June this year. This is a deceased estate sale of a collector who passed away last year. There will be in excess of 200 vehicles on offer, all to be sold via an unreserved auction. I completed the inventory last Wednesday, which includes 4 XY/XW sedans plus a couple of utes, mostly complete but damaged to varying degrees, 2 late 80s F100s (one a V8) quite a few 50s and 60s F100s and trucks, a couple of quite tidy XE sedans, a handful of 80s Chryslers, 4 very badly damaged xf utes, quite a few Lasers, Corollas, hiluxes, rodeos from the 80s (no, I have no idea why either) as well as a heap of old trucks - Bedfords, Inters, Dodge, Fords, Chevies etc. I hope to have a website link in a week or two which will have approx 150 photos, and the auction will be advertised in Just Cars and Unique Cars, as well as the usual Weekly Times etc. Please note that this is a genuine auction, we act for the vendors so no prior offers will be considered and due to security issues, no viewings can be arranged other than on the day of auction. By way of disclosure, I work for Elders and am not really in a position to answer any questions until I have the advertising organised. I've been a member here since we bought our 1st Territory in 2007 and am very much a Ford man. Without exaggerating, this will probably one of the most significant auctions of the year. |
