Celebrating my little trucks 30th working birthday today (March 1989 build) even though I have only owned him for 10 and being the third owner.
Happy birthday ROKWIZ. May you work another 30 just as reliably.

One day I'll have to add up all the quarry weighbridge tickets and see what he's carried under my ownership.

Looks like the special polish and tyre black will be coming out on the weekend.

Splashed me boat after 6 months on the hard getting a mini refit.

Now in a bigger 16m berth, closer in to shore and away from the visiting/transient boat berths, always some tool out there pulling in for the day or night and using your boat as a fender

Safe and sound with a big wind brake from the sou easterlies in the next berth

Forty four days (29 work days plus the March Long weekend) until return to work due to 6 weeks Long Service Leave... That's a real good feeling . Been 13 years since I had LSL ..

Concur with that ..Even here in Tas it's way drier than it should be especially in the south east and east but not like in so many desperately dry places around Oz . Listening to the new boss of water management in NSW the other day on ABC Radio and he said some creeks are literally bone dry , others no flow, and dam levels in single figure percentages at some locations. It's awful ..

C'mon upstairs , turn the taps on for a while where it's desperately needed .

Nice,
Bow looks familiar to a Sparkman and Stephen 40ish.??
The price of berths (in Newcastle) jumped quite significantly from 10m to 12m to 16m hope you got a good deal.

Yeah, agree on the visiting boat ordeals.

She's a 44ft Roberts Mauritius, Cutter rigged Ketch, prof built in Vancouver Canada, bought and sailed to Bundy in 2012....

Yep got a good deal on the berth, i also based my previous boat here so they look after me pretty well, with the RIB/Davits aft and a slight overhang on the bow she comes in just on 15m so nicely tucked in.....

She's in 'Orange 2' now, used to be all the way out in 'Pink 17'.....

They'll probably turn round and subtract the extra paint they gave you from the claim.

Oh, take it you don't have LSL or don't get a chance to take it if you do ..

I have a lowish paid state gov. job that has capped pay increases (2% max) and the base 9.5% super , contributory fund locked off not long after I started . other than voluntary contributions or salary sacrifice the base super is all I have so the LSL is welcome thing .

Been looking forward to mine since applying for it in April last year ..

Being on the road and working 30 something years self employed, I don't have normal holidays but give myself 2 weeks between jobs.

I straight-piped my TR Magna wagon in preparation for turboing it.

Now when my feral neighbours have one of their loud late night gatherings, I will be able to wake them up nice and early the next morning with the sweet sound of the mighty 4G54i.

It sounds surprisingly tough.

I created some civil unrest at work amongst our project team. Im a service guy and didnt want this particular job and didnt have the time. The project guys are typically on site, filthy toilets, no kitchen or fridge, limited to whatever food is in the imediate area, second rate citizen kind of conditions. So the job i palmed off is just replacing 300 light fittings in a car park. Not hard work, but repetitive. Now the projects guys are arguing amongst themselves as to who is on that job. I have orginised a kitchen, provided they keep it clean, clean bathrooms, again provided they keep it clean, parking for as many cars they want, that's a big ticket item, they dont get work cars like us on service and typically arent allowed to drive their own cars in so thats massive to them, and the kicker is the building is across the road from a big shopping centre with a big food court. So if they bring their own food in for lunch they can warm it up in the kitchen, and if buying food can have a wide selection, not just one or 2 crap places. The boys are getting quite heated because i gave them a job with actual conditions and only 2 of 5 can work on it. Now the kitchen which the italian bloke is absolutely chuffed with, hes over cold pasta for lunch but no place in his opinion does it better then him, even if his is cold, and parking are all due to me being mates with the building manager, and my stern word was dont ruin the privileges i got you. But, whilst im not the manager, being the guy out in the field i orginised these things. I dont beleive my manager could have done it so comprihensivly to look after the boys, not that he isnt in good with the building manager, but he isnt on the same social level and its kind of like if the boys are good with me theyre good with the building manager. Well, give it a few days and ill probably hear if things are otherwise. I do dare say the leading hand will just take the job and select his prefered help, but thats up to them. I never have the problem of dirty ammenities, im service. They can duke it out to get what i did for them.

Listening to the New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinta Ardern showing leadership after yesterday's horror made me feel good(or at least better today). I'm not a big fan of politicians in general but her determined speech and forthright words were inspiring for me..

Good on you Jacinta and deepest sympathies to all our Kiwi friends on and off AFF..

We lost dear dear people at Port Arthur in similar mass shooting circumstances and I know how they feel right now but strong human spirit will always over ride evil .

She has a good speech writer and speaks well. The comparisons with Obama are apt. Politically she’s a charlatan.

Same thing happened with Anna Bligh up here with the 2011 floods, except she was possibly the most unpopular premier in a long time. Cue the floods, she handles herself well and all of a sudden everyone loves her.

Ardern has already said they’re gonna ban semi autos as a result of this. Knee jerk reactions seldom have the effect required.
