Well, if it comes with all the goodies you've listed, I may have to stretch to that figure. Was hoping for closer to $50K but I think it will be worth the spend.

Don't forget that with FPV out of the FPV/Ford partnership, Ford would benefit with greater cost efficiency from the elimination of FPVs profit share ($20-$30K per car at a wild guess?). Ford were also paying FPV to build the BOSS Engine (5.4 XR8/GT & 5.0 Miami) engines, now done in-house.

Agree with Dash on this one. Somewhere between $54-$55K plus on roads would be about right. Even if the figure was mid to high $50K's look at what you get. A GT in a FGX suit (which by the way looks bloody great) with some tech upgrades. That is damn good value for money in anyone's language. If you are expecting $50K I think you are going to get a surprise and really that extra few thousand is worth it. Otherwise sit back and wait for the secondhand market to open. Just you may be waiting for a while. This is going to be a great car and no more after 2016. I know I am not letting go of mine.

There will be little or no negotiation on price for the XR8. Undoubtedly the hero car of the FGX range. Only 2500 HI-PO ZF's available for it and its turbo counterpart. It will be pitched as a competitor for the SSV Redline and you would think priced accordingly. Expect a decent waiting time and a very close to RRP purchase price on the XR8.

Maybe not...but maybe..Ford do have a history of sharing settings and just giving them new part numbers to make it look like there is a different tune. Would make financial sense to use as much as they can from the R spec and GTF.

It is officially the FG X. So the XR is the FG X XR8, awkward hey?
I like FG X, but paired with the XR8/XR6/T, it is a little clumsy.

Hoping that it is some where around $55-56 k drive a way. If it's more, I'm in the s#@t. Don't think the leader of the opposition will stretch the budget to closer to $60 k.

So what happens with the deposit? Does it give you any advantages? Haven't ever done that on a car I don't know the price of, so I'd be interested to hear.

Just secures a car for you. And possibly be able to choose a colour, but if it's going to be like the launch of the Fiesta ST then dealers only get a handful of colours to sell. But it's also possible for the dealers to swap colours between yards.

I just wanted to get in early, given what some in the know have said about the scarcity of engines and transmissions for the V8 and it means that I've payed $1000 of the car already. Having said that, I was told the other day by the new car manager at the local Ford dealer, that I was the only one, so far, in the ACT with a deposit on the new XR8.

LOLs at worrying about securing one. FFS have a look at the sales of the Falcon and GT.
Dismal to say the least. YES the GT-F sold out but how many people are trying to make a dollar out of them. They have no heritage what so ever. The XR8 will be great value for performance. But that is where it ends. Interior falls behind and most normal car buyers rate interiors ahead of .5 off a 0-100 time. |

It is more the case of securing one as early as possible .... not the fact that they may miss out. People have done this for all models. This one is just that little bit more special ...... !

Dealers predominantly seem to be trying to make a dollar out of GTF and Pursuit. It's crap, but it's business to them. No real need to jump down a guys throat because wants to get in early. I got in early on my PX Wildtrak and won on price. Makes sense if your hearts set on something. Don't worry plenty of choice elsewhere if it's not your thing and other forums to haunt

Not when a shortage eventuates that wasn't foreseen and the pricing leaps to RRP or cya later.

Changing a normal XR spec to suit the wider rears and re-calibrating the DSC to suit would cost millions. So what's the cheapest, easiest option? |

Those Bosch engineers charge a packet to recalibrate the DSC.
