Haven't read through all of the posts. Just downloaded "Car sound effects" app which has about 50 car related ringtones and message tones. Free from Android market. Most noticable is the Chevy V8 idling.

I agree, i too have this app and it's great. Some awesome car sound effects from exotics, F1, police & muscle car. Save any of them to ringtone or notification.

I think I'm getting like this user comment I saw on Android Market. "I don't actually know what I'll use this for, but it's pretty awesome."

HTC Desire HD.

Adobe Reader..self explanatory
Angry Birds.
Angry Birds seasons.
Angry Birds Rio.
AGV Antivirus.
Barcode scanner.
Bubble Blast. Game
Call Confirm. Stops accidentally calling with a touchscreen.
Camcorder.
camera.
Connect the power. Game
Convert Pad. Convert anything to anything. (1metre is 56692 twips!!)
Cubic man lite. Game.
Doodle Bowling. 10 pin Bowling game.
Flashlight. Torch with 3 settings.
FM radio.
Google Goggles. Image recognition app. Take a picture of anything and Google searches for info on it.
Jewels. Game.
Klondike. Solitaire game.
Pocket Weather. Excellent Aust weather app.
Quick Office.
Reader. Too small to read books, but it came with the phone so...
Slice it. Game.
Soundhound. Play a tune or sing a few bars or just say the name of the band and this will try to find it on the net.
Ultrachon Lite. Speedo with HUD.
Ulysse Speedometer. also with HUD
Uninstaller. Uninstalls apps...doh!
And 'Shake them all' wallpaper. Lots of little Androids falling all over your screen.

Bringing this thread back to life...

On my cruddy old Nokia N97 I had discovered an app which I loved to use before it decided to have a HDD crash and therefore new phone. It was an FM transmitter so I could listen to songs through any FM channel I selected on the phone in the car.

Anyone know/or have an app like this for Android?

I've got a HTC HD2 running Android 2.3.4

I've got Dolphin Browser (must have for internet surfers) and FPSE which is a PSX emulator, for when I'm on public transport and need to play some Metal Gear Solid.

Does the Dolphin browser override the current web browser does it?

When you have multiple apps that do the same task, the first time you use alink that will call that app, it will ask you which you want to use for it, and you can set it as a default.
If you ever want to change it back, you go to Settings>apps>manage apps, scroll to the one that is default and clear that information from it.

If it works like GO SMS Pro then it prompts you to select the default app to use and disables the other app until you uninstall.

I installed AVG AntiVirus the other day and hasn't slowed my phone like some users comment so will keep that on board.

I downloaded Baseball Superstars 2 last week as well and that has my attention at the moment. It's an RPG/Sports game cause you do actually get to play baseball, not just like a baseball manager type game.

I've also noticed recently there are some ripper games coming through Market, most are free but keep an eye out.

Had to use this app this morning to see how much 35kl was because some landlords in Brisbane are now making tenants pay for water.

another update for you folks:
This time on the app called on the Torque. Its an ODBii reader.

Got my cheapo bluetooth OBDii adapter today, plugged it in and launched the app.

All I can say is wow! What a cracking app! I updated it to Torque Pro v1.5.11 and the number of options is outstanding! You can keep an eye on pretty much everything, so long as your ecu puts it out, including reading and clearing fault codes.

a few pics for you:

Dashboard

auto rotate

a small selection of a very long list of parameters it can measure

there are also plug ins that are support and these include track recorder, shift lights and quick OBD read.

I personally think that everyone with an android phone and a modded car needs this app!

Stupid question. I have had my HTC Desire S for a few months now, and I love it.

Just wondering how do you take a print screen - is it even possible?

My latest apps...

Woolworths (great app, finally a major Australian company bucked the iPhone trend)
Dominos Pizza
Third Blade (anyone like Golden Axe, this is a good game, hefty download for mobile data though (35mb))
Translink (QLD operated public transport timetables)
Fireworks (Puzzle game where you explode fireworks with minimum moves)
Death Worm (Big worm and you eat people, animals, cars, helicopters and planes, good graphics)
Jewels Deluxe (Another jewel match game, very good)
Real Estate (I had this previously but it locked my Market app, since update it's great, takes info directly from the realestate.com.au website)
