I've changed my stance.

Since there's high school girls at uni now, I'd blow it all on neonz and stickerz, and scotch-guarding the interior : : : :Reverend:

I'd sell the EF, take that 5K and buy something already boosted. Saves EPA and defect hassles (thinking R31 coupe, RB25DET, ahhh old school) :P

New set of rims / tyres (17's - I'm bored with my CSA boss's in 16") and a Electric Sunroof. That's the two major things and with the change reset the springs a little lower.

I'm happy with everything else.

I am going to replace the damaged part of the dash soon, so that can be taken off the list. And I don't know why I didn't say it back then but I want a T5! A new bonnet would be good too. My current one is crap. The paint's good, the bonnet isn't.

Well most mods have taken a back seat to something else, but I got new tires, don't need the LSD, the cam has been post-poned for at least another 2 months (different plans require more money), the extractors have been canned (new plans), shockers I got already. Electric windows are still on the cards, but not in the next 6 months...

So I guess I'd take $1000 to pay someone to finish up the current project for me and get it done, and put the rest to a deposit on another car with 8 cylinders.

I would:

-Get my other diff fixed.
-BA XR6 wheels
-Shocks that won't be constantly botteming out of my other springs
-Head work
-Wade 1636 cam
-Get extractors installed
-New front/back speakers and another amp
-New headunit (sell the old one)
-Get the dent in the boot fixed

That's if I had to spend it all on my car, the more realistic thing would be:

-Get other diff fixed
-Get extractors installed
-Gas conversion
-Fix the dent in the boot

go the old threads :P

now if i had 5K to play with i would be starting with engine mods. Cam, Heads, TB, MAF.

then maybe a nice set of 18's and a nice drop in ride height.

I wouldn't waste 5 grand on my E-series....

But i have looked into some JMM gear for it, but for a daily driver its not worth it when i have 3 other cars i'd rather spend money on...

two options
1. Flywheel and clutch (currently have EA type stuff on my EF), rebuilt engine, T28 (Rb25 style), exhaust manifold, 3inch exhaust, Flash tuner and associated software (when they become available). ~170 rwkw.

or sell EF (brings total to 8500-9000) and...

2. Rest of the tafe course ($3500), Early auto scorpion ($1200 in good nick), 318 V8 with 3spd manual ($700 engine/box), Random fitting costs ($600), exhaust system ($600), EFI System from VN Commodore ($800 in parts and bits to make it tuneable).

$3900 and i can have a reasonably quick coupe with that oh-so good V8 noise. Ignoring the fact that its based on a sigma, I cant lose.

and before you say anything, yes it can be done, not sure about legalities though.

So that leaves $1000 for rego and fuel.

Hmm with $5K I would buy some CP pistons, Argo rods and get my new bottom end assembled.

If there was any left some headwork and a new cam wouldnt go astray either.

Mmm 400rwkw in 1100kg's worth of car.

With 5 grand i'd get a new diff and upgrade the clutch. Also a decent tune up and a few other little things.
Maybe a bit more N/A work, a new custom 3" dual exhaust would be nice to :
