Ah look I didn't think he would stop - it is just from now, he is going to get some encouragement to go forced, or NOS, or fully opened engine, or stripped.
I'm just keeping up the encouragement to keep making gains and improvements.

Get the ute as close as possible to 1600kg or so, and run a time with the current motor/driveline setup and see the difference between a 5.4V8 and a 5.7Ls1, and then you can also compare ET's, 60's, half track and MPH and have a definitive comparison between the 2 motors |

Fit some Caltracs (bolt on mod) and that would eliminate wheel spin

I wonder how much the flat tray weighs compared to the tub.

You would most likely have to alter the rear & front springs to allow for more front end lift and back end squat with less wheelspin, similar to the APS XR6T ute or some of the LS1 tonners with the tubbed trayback, which wouldn't weigh much. Only thing is where to get it from or made

A timeslip is much more credable than any Dyno, the dyno is only tuning tool.
400 meters is the test...time is a much more accurate measurment of a cars performance. I have posted this once before it some up dyno numbers. DYNO RACING. "Tweaking" the numbers a bit is a common practice, especially in segments of the market where power sells, and amongst enthusiasts who have modified their cars but never put them to the test. At the end of the day, arguing about exact horsepower numbers leaves you with nothing but a day wasted arguing. You can't race a dyno; what matters is how fast a car can get down the track. If it can run the number, then the amount of horsepower it took to get it there, or how the horsepower was measured, won't change the outcome of the race. Next time someone tries to bench race with horsepower numbers, ask for a timeslip. If he can't deliver, then cut the conversation short and move on. He's not really in the game anyway.

This is AMAZING.
But, having owned 3 different dyno's and raced many cars, i will take spoolmans side on this one. Dyno's can lie. Timeslips do not. Many times at past midnight ive been on the dyno trying to nut out a job, and there is no better satisfaction than sorting a problem and having a successful tuning session. Trying to put reason into it all comes together at the track. We have seen many things with BA XR8/GT F6 and XR6T that have had us doing handstands at the results on the dyno, only to see nothing extra at the track. Rocket Rod clark used to tell me "nothing ventured nothing gained" and i still use it today. The dyno is a very important tool, but be smart about it. |
