Talk to Fibre Sports, you'll find that the aftermarket XR fronts are cheaper than the actual factory forte ones. You might be able to do it at minimal if any cost to yourself.

They may make you pay the difference in the cost but for the better front end, why not while you have the chance.

A little more for that XR front, or as JC suggested a T series front. That way there'd be no extra costs for lights etc, just any difference in the cost of the bar.

A T Series may even be cheaper than a stock bar!

the guy i was talking to.....pretty sure he's the same one that did the assessing on my car, said they wont do the "upgrade" of front bar with something aftermarket otherwise they have to cover the bar if anything happens..chips, cracks, etc

and atm i cant afford anything on top, so no genuine XR or TE front bars...

check that because they may list it as a bodykit etc so they dont have to cover it, i know when i had my EF and the front was taken off it they were fine with having an XR bar put on provided i paid the difference and listed it as an accessory etc, that is to say it wasn't a standard item.

That's the way i would go if i were in your position. The car will never feel the same again, despite how go a job they do with the repair. Take it from me, i have stacked my car twice now, and even though they were nowhere near the extent of your accident, i know i will always be able to tell the difference.
Besides, you could pick up a mint AUII or even AUIII XR8 manual for that much!

i smashed my XR8 pretty bad not long after i got it. 11,000 it was to fix and thats cause i had another xr front and rear bars. My car feels perfect to drive you wouldnt even know it had been crashed. I was insured with AAMI as well and they let me work out anything extra i wanted with the panel beater. Although i knew the panel beater before i crashed it. Half the reason it was the cheapest quote. But in your case that was a big hit and if you dont know the panel beater it could come back and drive like a HQ kingswood and theres not much you can do about it. Its a sad day when you see a nice car get totalled especially a falcon. Good luck anyway hope it comes out as good as mine did.

You don't live in Townsville. There are some really dodgy bastards up here. What can ya do? And every business has a customer to be reckoned with... but most do produce good results, as for the driveablity you'll have to wait and see.

Personally I would want that written off too. No offence, but I've had a few cars repaired after that sort of damage, and forgetting the visual clues to the previous damage, they never drive or feel the same.

If they won't write it off, I think I'd be selling it once it's repaired. Again, this is only what I'd do.
