Yes, in NSW custom plates cost money to make, then you need to pay an annual fee to display them - around $450 a year for the most expensive option. You must have them on a car at all times. Should you remove them and wish to keep them they need to be handed in and kept in storage (for an annual fee as well). In NSW personal plates are literally a licence to print money. You can have all sorts of colours, comic themes, footy teams, animals, plants, JDM, Euro look etc etc etc. https://platerange.myplates.com.au/car You will need to click on 'Show more' down the bottom... Several times.... Edit: Forgot you can also get FPV / Mustang themed plates

The proper rear plate covers more of that horrible plastic number plate base I'm tempted. I just like skiing I guess. These are real NSW plates you can order. The number of designs is unbelievable. Last edited by Ben73; 23-06-2020 at 11:22 PM. |

This thread reminded me of the "C you in the NT" t-shirts I saw on my trip up the top. And I recall Garry Rogers (GRM) having his HOON plates taken from him a couple of years back. I think he had them on a Volvo |

If going personalized make it personal. Just putting the car model when the car already has badges the same seems odd to me. |

Yeah, I never understood having the number plate match the make or model of car. How creative.

I guess it's just not my thing as I'd have dozens of options before say "XR6 T" as a plate. But it's each to their own and money so all good. |

When I had a 300c it had a standard yellow and black plate that looked horrible. I wanted a black and silver plate to match the car better. Back then if you got a standard layout there was no annual fee. So I got a black and silver plate with the normal nsw layout of AAA-22A but a chose the letters and numbers that sort of related to the car. I wouldn't do it now with the yearly fees but even if someone does, why not? Same reason why I buy a car I like rather than a base model Corolla. Most of the time a boring, cheap car will suit my driving needs. But I like my cars and like driving so I'm happy to pay a premium for something I find interesting. Personally I wouldn't want my name, initials, birth year or anything similar on my plate. I don't feel the need to advertise that. Some people like it so I say go ahead and do it if you want. |

I guess I was just permanently damaged by being made to dress up against my will in a pansy white outfit and dance and sing the "I'm a Little Snowflake" song in front of the whole town for the Christmas play in my first year of school.

Greyhound's a little more imaginative. Some of their bus trailer use PUP.

I'm amazed at how many people on here are offended by others being offended by a number plate.
Oh the irony |

I have personalised plates on my car, but its nostalgia more then anything. The 2 letters were my grandpas initials which are the same as mine, the 3 numbers dont mean a thing. I kept the fat white on black plates as that was what my grandpa had on his car, the originals were printed in 74. The bums at the rta made me get them re printed as the originals were missing too much paint, but i kept the same size plate. Plus they came off a 92 fairmont and went on my 08 ghia. They look the part on a silver car. Funnily enough when i showed my car to a bird im on and off with, she commented about my initials being on the plates. I said nah, theyre my grandpas initials, but also may stand for good root. She likes good root better...
