MK1 Cortina Fastback, I was told only 4 were made for approval by the shiny bums, but not approved, the hatch back/boot was fibreglass

Pretty sure the GTU was either a project done by Deakin Uni students, or Ford/Tickford apprentices. The same way the Sandfire ute came about I think.

I remember seeing a picture (black & white) in a old Wheels magazine, of a rear shot of the Cortina 'Tracker' show car, at some show when it was new.
The rear shot showed all the back cut out (no roof or tailgate) behind the rear seats and it had a mini bike standing up. I think it was a Peter Ardcipane (spelling?) modification.

Good thread indeed, I remember drooling over the Sandfire ute as a kid. Anything with sidepipes is a winner.

Was the T series ever shown as a concept or was that awesome black T1 TS50 at the MMS just where it debuted?

While at Ford I recall trying to ask about a EL GT prototype that was sitting out back rusting away, im sure its been crushed by now when the office moved across the road :(

From what I have read, it was in part due to limited engine bay space causing overheating problems.

Here's one of my favourites Ford drawings, a black and grey AU, don't know what it is meant to be but looks like it would have been a great thing in the metal:

The purple Ute was a model build by Ford Geelong Product Engineering Apprentices in the early 90's for the Annual Appentice Award Night. The year before they built an XG Tray back Ute. It was a bronze colour from memory.

Was that the first EB V8 to race in the ATCC though?
Glenn Seton was racing an EB in 1992.

Nah, diddn't officially race, IIRC it was aloud to "be raced" at a few events, but not for points. It was deemed not to meet the regulations...
