Maccas and KFC. The only thing i will ever buy from these joints is a flat white.
They can keep their grossly overpriced foodstuffs. Had KFC in Morriset since i didnt feel like driving around trying to find a hot food store or a Hungry Jacks, first time back into a KFC in years. Their burgers and the Twister have shrunk to such a size it was a joke. Theiveing bastards. At least bring back the size.... But no other fast food joint beats Hungry jacks's ultimate double whopper upsized to large. It fills!

I have to agree on the KFC BBQ chicken. Was only talking about it with the missus a few days ago.
Also miss original Coke, in glass bottles with a cap you had to use a bottle opener, or in steel cans that you had to put 2 holes in or open using a ring pull. Much better than the syrup that they try and pass off now days. And don't get me started on Smiths Chicken flavoured chips. At least they used to taste something like chicken. Not now. Oh, and does anyone remember Shelley's soft Drinks ? |

We used to love Giant Sandwich icecreams too...but the last time we were back in WA, we felt like giants ourselves because they had shrunk in size so much! Chicken El Maco. The only thing I ever ate from Maccas....At least I think it was Maccas. Spot who doesn't eat much takeaway food! Portions sizes of everything seems to be getting smaller...so why are we all getting so fat??

Original Milo bars. They were sooo nice. The current ones are just odd and are similar to a Boost bar.
Original Wagon Wheels. McDonald's hamburgers when they were larger size eg. Quarter Pounder with Cheese used to have a larger meat pattie and bun. Smurf Ice Cream. It was a 2 stick ice cream in the 80's where one side was vanilla ice cream and the other side was blue ice block. TAB before it had evil Aspartame added to it. Yes, you can still buy TAB from some IGA's and lolly shops. The original Raspberry Fanta (especially in the larger bottles) before they changed it and then took it off the market. OAK Strawberry flavoured Milk in 2L bottles. OAK ice cream. Australian made Nabisco/Kraft Premiums & all 'In a Biscuit' products. They're ALL made in China now. I won't touch em. At least Arnotts still make their stuff here.

O'Gradys Au Gratin chips.
Ridged in texture, covered in cheese powder & about 3mm thick. Used to devour a large pack of these whilst watching the footy final on TV. Frozen cordial grenades. Mum used to get one for my sister and I on the way home from school in summer from the local milk bar (now known as a convenience store). Traditional lolly shop. Used to be one in Strathfield run by old Mr Keary (Keary's Corner). Complete with hundreds of jars where you could choose a few of each different type of lolly.

Does anyone know of online stores that sell the stuff we are posting about in this thread? I have an english candy store here in town, but it isn't what I am looking for.
Could spend a fortune here http://www.theprofessors.com.au Last edited by Spudz27; 29-07-2011 at 12:53 PM. |

lol my partner would like to thank the TC for creating a topic that just cost $80 at the store I mentioned.
I got mainly american stuff, pop tarts, creaming soda, hersheys bars etc etc. Spent $80 because it was free shipping. |

Chokito's, Curly wirly's, Tropical shakes and sundaes at maccas (there was pineapple and passionfruit I think, from memory), Arnotts bush biscuits (like a malt biscuit, only 3 times the size).

You can still buy curly wirly's...! And chokito's too!
Magdala's...have seen one since I moved to queensland...the version I know is essentially two potato cakes with cheese and onion in the middle...but apparently there are varieties with bacon to replace the onion...deep fried goodness... Steamed dim sims seem to have gone by the wayside too...they now just taste horrible and must be drowned in soy sauce to cover the overpowering taste of cabbage... :S

www.usafoods.com.au for all the yank stuff you could want. We have three shops here within 30kms of my place that stock American/English and N.Z sweets, confectionery and soft drinks. Dandelion & Burdock is the ducks guts IMO. L&P (N.Z) is very good too. Never a fan of Dr Pepper but bought a slab of it for my nephew's birthday recently. I just wish that Oak would bring back it's spearmint flavoured milk. And that Kirk's fruita soft drink that I picked up when we were in Adelaide was available in N.S.W. |
