I think Holden might have trumped Ford on this one.

Thought the bulge was cool.

Think the scoops look better.

Default Battle of the Bulge

Personally i prefer the bulge (love one for my Sprint), the pic of the bulge with the 2 scoops in it would look better with 1 slightly larger central scoop and a mesh(?) vent on the rear to allow hot air to escape.
As for scoops i still love the original "Letter-Box" style-developed by Chrysler engineers.(Trivia-"For a scoop to be effective it must have an opening of 30 square inches")

I've got Holden loving mates who think the Monaro bonnet is a disgrace and keep asking me if I can fit a BA buldge to my car as they look tough!

Sorry mate but that AU looks disgusting in my opinion. If you can afford the carbon, surely you can afford the paint to go on it.

YEAH I can afford the paint but I don't want to coz I think it suits the car.
Remember it's my car and I can do want I want, by the way Mike I'm getting the carbon fibre hard lid as well so I'm thinking it will suit it IMO.

Never thought a true ford man would call another FORD disgusting. :

There's nothing wrong with showing off the unpainted bonnet imo. I reckon it looks good too.

The carbon fibre bonnet is cheaper than the metal one from the factory.

BLUPRNT XR8, as I've said before, your ute looks the goods as is.. and the hardlid will enhance it's looks more.

Anyone have a copy of the latest Street Machine mag.. with the red 56 Chevy on the cover? On the first page, a company (think it's Eagle Spares) has a double page ad. In that ad there's a bonnet they're selling for VT, VX, ect.. with two (small) scoops towards the front, and two vents towards the rear.. built in. I think it's fibre glass, or could be carbon. If someone (*hint* AWC *hint*) could do a similar bonnet for the XR6T, I think it would help with the venting, and would be a hit I reckon.

Anyone have a copy of SM and could possibly scan the image of the bonnet??

Anyone had a think about the risks involved in putting this plastic crap all over your car?

Anyone seen what fibreglass does or in the case of this thread carbon fibre in the event of an accident, broken windscreen = lots of little sharp fragments coming for your head.

I have a feeling the carbon fibre is or soon will be illegal in the bonnet region as of the huge risks to you and other motorists in the case of an accident...

Normally in an accident a laminated windscreen remains intact (depending on severity of course). If you have had a bad enough accident to displace your windscreen you'll have alot more to worry about than your carbon fibre bonnet breaking up.

It already is in Qld.... Carbon Fibre or fibreglass does not meet with the ADR's or something in relation to the factory specific crumple zones.. So the DOT inspectors were telling me... They carry a magnet around doing spot checks at the ricer haunts..
You could paint it all up but it voids your insurance and unfortunatley it isn't the easiest thing to hide when all thats left of the the bonnet is just a few shards of fibre...

I'll try and see if they have some guidelines in black and white for you Falkeen..

Hey Adam, I think he was watching the Grand Prix over the weekend and somehow has formed his opinion on it without seeing for himself. Oh well, we all know about ENVY :monkes:

FYI

From Swedish National Testing and Research Institute

Quote:
Inhalable carbon fibres have been suspected to pose similar threats to human health, as do asbestos fibres. It is known that fibres having a diameter of less than 3 mm might be inhaled and transported deep into the human respiratory system. Some composite materials use carbon fibres as structural reinforcement. These fibres do not pose any risks as such as they are firmly connected to the laminate and surrounded by a polymer matrix. Also, these fibres typically have diameters >6 mm and thus, are not inhalable. However, if the material is subjected to a fire, the carbon material (mainly graphite) might be oxidised and fractionated and thereby, inhalable fibres might be produced in the fire smoke.
