I'm sure KTA are happy to plod along here. Exporting gliders would have been the way to go, but the Demo Republic of Commiefornia's CARB put a stop to them.

I can't believe the difference between PACCAR Parts and Kenworth, one supplies the trucks out on the road and the other builds them, the former goes absolutely above and beyond for their customers and the latter can't be ****ed lifting a finger, its like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. |

Prob only pushing 30t as is, why the yanks can get over 1 million miles before the engine needs opening up. Wasn’t the Argosy the last large COE on the market there, and they didn’t buy them so pulled from the market? |

When you become boss of KTA they might sit up and listen.

They could get a cheap cabover, stick an old school 3406 Cat (no ECM) and 18 speed and run them as a new truck but still not fall into the electronic log book scheme. win win for the truckers.

Can the rules of one state kill off the potential to import a specific model to the rest of the country? I’m on a US based diesel mechanic page, and they all hate CA and the people there with a passion. But it appears from comments deleting any form of emission control nationwide is a no go, massive fines for the operator and tech or workshop responsible (if managed to be caught). |

I’m guessing authorities will hook up a laptop and carry out a forced DPF regen or adblue pump dosing phase to determine if the system is working, as opposed to a simple visual check. Tbh the money saved on adblue could offset the fine, providing they don’t go after the truck or the owners/companies service license. |

Gliders are (were) a new manufactured truck, without the rear drives, gearbox and engine. Basically a new painted cab fitted out inside sitting on front suspension and chassis rails. It was a normal thing back from the 60's for trucking co's to buy several "Gliders" and store them on the back lots until they needed a replacement truck. The company could inhouse rebulld the engine and trans and fit the whole drivetrain to the new chassis.

Kenworth was struggling to build over 12 trucks a day on their Bayswater production line as their supply chain couldn't keep up, and then post COVID lockdowns they had issues with a heap of inexperienced new staff on the production line. |

Smoo, the glider was the last loophole bastion for the owner operator and could legally NOT fit DPF emission crap even ECM diesels.
Now there's a new way around it, its called gather up as many old school trucks (1998 and older) as you can and refit them with mechanical injected diesels. ie their favour A model 3406 Caterpillar. 2016 Glider information. https://www.dot.state.wy.us/files/li...esentation.pdf

You can even change your own GVM to suit yourself it seems. Sounds great.

You're assuming the process to have integrity. More likely it would be corrupt due to an influx of migrants from heavily corrupt countries, and mutual recognition of qualifications.

Despite all the Karens preaching their hate of Murica trucks have yet to see one involved in an accident around here. And I see heaps everyday.
They mostly post pictures of them parking retarded like no other vehicle does that. I have some hottie who can't park her i30 straight next to me everyday to save her life you can set your watch to it |
