how does something damage the front left quarter like that without damaging the headlight or bonnet.

also if the roo was hit by something going the other way and flung forward into the path of the cop car it would do damage to the roof similar to that.

Folks I can tell you it was a roo and not that big either. I did post a pic of the poor little fellah but it was removed by a mod as inappropriate or something.
Thats why I said "missed by that much" because it looks like he took a big leap but didn't quite clear the car.
I will try put up another one and cover up the bloody bits.
Mods, if this is still no good please delete. Thanks

You obviously haven’t hit many roos, have you?

I’ve hit so many over the years I’ve lost count, not that I like to remember anyway. One in particular decided to stick his head through the grill and destroy the intercooler, radiator and air con condenser on the Kenworth I was driving. His last act of defiance was to swing his tail and destroy the fibreglass headlight surround as he went in. The bill for this was $13,000.

Strangely, there was not one drop of blood and the headlight dangling by the loom still worked. Sometimes you just can’t explain the way they damage things.

There was one incident here in WA on the Albany H'way many years ago where a roo came through the guys windscreen and was thrashing around inside so much that his big claw slashed the poor drivers jugular and he bled out before help could get to him.

ROFLMAO because it reminds me of the good ol days - I mean the bad ol days - when the elders dogs were fair game.

A certain feral cop in central NSW could not resist the temptation to have some crazy fun. This particular cop had a very strange sense of humour

One occasion when a silencer was confiscated from someone who had recently visited South Australia (where silencers were legal at the time) he thought he would use it to take care of the local dog population.

He and a colleague decided to visit the local Aboriginal Mission one very hot evening around 3am.

The colleague was told about how much fun it would be to sneak out there in the middle of the night and test the silencer on the local indigenous population's very large mob of dogs.

The colleague drove and the particular cop took care of half a dozen dogs from half a dozen shots. He was a crack shot obsessed with reloading cases/cartridges and shooting foxes from the paddy wagon on nightshift in winter when pelts fetched a handsome price (but thats another story).

He then handed the rifle over to the driver so the driver could join in the fun (but not before he stealthily removed the silencer) to have first shot.

Can you imagine the sound on a still night?
Can you imagine the shock the driver got?
Can you imagine the tribe wondering next morning how one bullet (thats all anyone heard) killed 7 dogs?

That cop did many many many crazy things and it was 20 yeras later that he got dischared as "hurt on duty".

The funny thing was that all the crazy things he had done over the years came out in the inquiry into whether he was mentally fit actually helped his case to be pensioned off as the decision makers were basically convinced he was nuts.

This is just one such TRUE story and maybe if ever someone starts a thread on crazy but true stories I might tell you some more.

BTW His middle son is a leading sports figure in 2008

Reckon he was escorting overwidth/length load and ran up the clacker of it while having a moment, that might explain the tare in the LH guard, no roo will tare a panel like that.

My opinion only.........
its not a tare, its the front corner of guard bent up and across, does look like a roo as the whole dent is round shaped no sign of hard corners where it would rip into a panel,
edit, ahh sorry,i just read rest of thread and saw its definatly a roo.

No mate but maybe there were some crazy cops there as well.

This cop was in a Central NSW town.

I will not name the town but it is on the way from Bathurst to Melbourne.

Ask Larry Perkins.

This same cop booked Larry for speeding when Larry drove home after winning Bathurst.

Fair dinkum.

I used to drive flatout (on private country roads) everywhere, revving the car out in everygear etc..., for around 3 or 4 years, seeing roos all the time. Often at the worst times, dawn dusk, and at night. Had the airbox off so that was noisy. Would never back off...

Anyway, never hit one! Then well, had a few too many speeding tickets, so had that 12 month no point period, also had a wife...put the airbox back on, obviously went back to driving slightly normally, and have hit lots since.

I think the noise of driving fast and noisily with induction noise is something they just think, while being startled "whats that?" have a look and your gone. If you are quiet and slow, they look up and just think, " i might go over the other side, seems to be nothing too dangerous".

I swear this is the case.

This car has been repaired.

It is currently at a Ford workshop with the dash out. - They're clearing out all the glass from the heater box.

Dont think it was the noise....
How may trucks hit roos?
Lights however could make a difference. I used to drive road trains from Adelaide to Alice Springs and we put green perspex covers on the driving lights and the kill rate dropped dramatically. The bright lights dazzled them and they just stood there and looked dopey but with the green light they were able to move.
It wouldn't make much differnce during the day though.
