Short for Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer, a mechanism at a phone company's central location that links many customer DSL connections to a single high-speed ATM line.
When the phone company receives a DSL signal, an ADSL modem with a POTS splitter detects voice calls and data. Voice calls are sent to the PSTN, and data are sent to the DSLAM, where it passes through the ATM to the Internet, then back through the DSLAM and ADSL modem before returning to the customer's PC. More DSLAMs a phone company has, the more customers it can support. Ripped from some PC encyclopedia, because I only ever knew them as DSLAM's.... |

Seems you need a codec or a new player that supports the movie...
What file extension is the new movie when unzipped?? .avi, .mpg, .wmv etc etc?? When unzipped, you should have a single file of ( generally ) 750Mb.. |

At a guess I'm going to say the file has been split into lots of seperate rar files which are linked together. I think they do this because the rich people who don't want you to download it can't trace it this way, some torrent's I download come like this. In my case all I do is open the first one drag the file in the rar which should be a video file onto the desktop or where ever and it automatically picks up the data from the other rar's.

SVO, you might want to do the maths on how long it takes to download 1100mb approx. at 20kbps and at between 290 to 680.
With the movie double click on the first of the 17 rar files. This will initiate an unpack box that automatically unpacks them all and creates the movie file, which you should then be able to play, watch or recode. Goodluck |

Chances are your upload is unmetered..... While you are downloading, no most programs do not allow to totally shut down upload. After the download though you can just kill the program, then move the file away so the program can't find it. Thats if you use the Bittorrent program. If you use something like Azureus you can just stop and remove the upload. |

Whats your internet connection like at the moment? If you are just using a router connected to your computer; click start>run Type cmd OK type ipconfig wait write down what is under "default gateway" type exit go into internet explorer or the like type http://(whatever you wrote down) you should get a login screen the default for linksys routers are u/n:admin pw:admin Also try (d-link default) un:admin pw: or un: pw:admin If these dont work, post your router make and model |

The best (fastest download) torrent sites are the one's you have to join as a member. They are the fastest because if you leech (don't seed) you will get banned. You have to maintain at least ratio of at least 0.50 (upload half as much as you download, this varies from site to site). This is why the torrents on these sites are fast. No ISP charges you for uploading. The only disadvantage is if you are uploading too much you may find Internet browsing slow, because your browser outgoing requests are slowed down. There will be a setting in your Torrent Client to limit the upload bandwidth. If I want to use the Internet, I set the total upload bandwidth to say 16KB per second. When I finish I put it back to say 30kps so that my seeding increases.

If bit torrent sucks get utorrent (pronounced microtorrent) it has all the features of Azureus but much easier to understand if your just getting into bit torrent, it also has a really small footprint.

Ok, I was wrong a few ISP's do,Thousands of others don't. I looked up the ones who count upload traffic at Whirlpool ,they are Bigpond, Dodo, CM internet, MidCoast Internet. maybe there are more.
Any decent value ISP, who isn't trying to rip you off, won't charge you for uploads. You should consider changing ISP's if uploads are counted. Find yourself a better plan at Whirlpool.
