a former employer heard about that and sold his fleet at around 120,000 km. The NP30 is a completely different vehicle, hard to imagine it’s from the same manufacturer…. Ford has learned a ton about the T6 over the last decade, engineering is now matured to the point where reliability and familiarity begin to take hold in buyer’s mind, making for an easy return buyer. Part of me would have loved to have seen an I-6 diesel off the 2.0 Panther, it’s just a dream I have……. Last edited by jpd80; 07-06-2021 at 06:48 PM. |

The 2L fans can still have their little fuel efficient engine. Although why would you get the 2L if there's a plug in hybrid option. I'd put a Raptor on my short list for my next car if it has either of those 6 cylinder engines. |

I'm calling BS on 2.7L V6 Ecoboost and 3.0L Powerstroke for Australian market.

so, which markets are actively moving against diesels now light commercials ? Answer: Europe and China I see it this way, While V6 diesel may prove strong in our market, it may be an outlier globally while something like Hybrid Ecoboost may become an option in the near future… One thing for sure, they’ll sell a lot more V6 diesels in Ranger than they ever did in F150.. I don’t expect Ford to do an I-6 diesel off the 2.0 this late in the game, just dreaming Last edited by jpd80; 17-07-2021 at 09:35 AM. |

If all these engine options have a limited lifespan, they should have just went with the Coyote and been done with it.

Jeep does a 6.4 in the Wrangler, so why not a 7.3 in Bronco/Ranger/Everest, give those extreme buyers something to desire…. |

Personally I’m really hoping for the 2.7L or even the 2.3L EB/Hybrid option for our next family hauler be that an Everest or Ranger. |

4x2 Ranger, single cab with a tray and 2.3L Ecoboost under the bonnet I'd be in like Flynn. I know you know something we don't |

so that only leaves Ranger and Everest otherwise Ford has to kill it. It’s an easy sell in Ranger, adding lots of power and torque as well as that smoothness found in the 2.7 TD Territory …..which now refines NG Everest? The other thought I have is that Europe and Asia are turning their backs on diesels, so something different is needed there in Ranger like hybrid EB? I like your thought on 2WD 2.3 EB Ranger as another sales channel, it’s something different but you know that Ford is probably not looking that direction, it’s hard man, gahhh!! |

Ford would be crazy not to put a 6 cylinder in the Ranger, especially the Raptor. |

I hope they do a Everest/Ranger Lightning like the F150! I'd be all over it! Done with these boring and slow diesels.

Niche market, but it wouldn't take much to develop a Ranger equivalent but at the end of the day they are such high volume sellers in their plane jane boring slow diesel form that there's no drive for initiative in this area to capture the couple of percentage points who would go for such an offer. The Chinese seem to love unleaded turbo engines in commercial vehicles (LDV G10 anyone lol) - might be an offering in that segment from our Chinese 'friends'. |

I think the only stand out was the 4.0L V6 Hilux which no one bought, the 3.6L V6 Colorado wasn't too bad either but that one is going back quite a few years since its been discontinued There's obviously a bit of demand there for something with balls though because the RAM 1500 is getting sales around the place. |

at least that 3.2 sounded better than a lot of the 4pot massy Ferguson sounds other brands sell. but its performance and economy are woeful for a 3.2 If the Everest/ranger gets the 600NM V6 diesel it will be a whole different driving experience

Note that the USDM Ranger has rear discs, why could that be? Look at diesel engines in passenger vehicles and look at the same capacities in the Thailand Specials - the Thailand Specials are junk in comparison to the diesel engines on offer in Mercedes/BMW passenger vehicle platforms. I guess the Thailand Specials have a 10 year lifecycle too as per the norm with LCVs. The 3.2L I5 Is as old as the hills, didn't it live in the Euro Transit before being offered in PX Ranger? |

Ford need to take a chance and do something different to the market if they want to keep ahead. Keep the diesels, they are selling. Bring something new like an EV Everest/Ranger. Given the life of these platforms, they'll make back the R&D on them! They squandered what they were doing with the Falcon those many years ago. The market is evolving. It'd be great to see them first to market here in this space.

Id certainly be interested in some kind of plug in Everest/Ranger.
If you could do your daily trip on EV and then for longer hauls swap between it would be great. Its face it, surely 60%+ of the time rangers etc are not hauling, they are cruising around.
